wow tough crowd over here. definitely not a questionable vehicle. I previously said it was registered and titled in CA. people who have no money should probably be working on sorting out their financial situation and spending less time trashing vehicles they self admittedly cannot afford.

If you were in such a rush to get outside to see your new baby, why are you selling it? Looks like the same truck that was on the board and from ebay that everyone jumped all over to mock the questionable title.

Anyone have the link to that thread? Can't be too many of that spec model floating around the USA.

Yeah, but you're like 8 years older than I am. I remember the slide thingy too, and even one box that had numbers on top (maybe up to like 32) that lit up when you manually depressed the channel button. I think that was the box I saw my first boob on TV. I still remember that night.

the truck sold this morning so I thank everyone for their responses and defender enthusiasm. to answer your final question regarding why I am selling... i am a pretty intense guy that works hard, buys stuff, has fun for a little bit and then moves on. there is probably a great business model in following me around and paying .60 on the dollar for a ton of watches and cars i had to have and then got rid of. it is an amazing truck, but i am on to the next thing. for me all material things are just things. i use them for a while and then i move on.

My first TV boob as on National Geographic (in Africa). My facial expression was priceless and my parents laughed their asses off....

I am in the market for a rolex submariner or daytona, a lotus or a g-wagen or a 911 or a morgan if you want to dump any of these cheap.

I notice you never answered the question of what year it was registered as. This quite possibly could be the sketchiest truck to have been listed on the board to date being as most people have gathered from the previous thread/ebay it is registered as a 1970 something. I am sure that will never cause the new owner an issue. I also notice Julian isn't saying a word about it anymore and I am sure he knows exactly what it is registered as.

Just make sure your buyer knows the facts.

If you actually knew me you wouldn't make comments like that. Our trucks are just as Legal as the vehicles built by other US restoration companies, if not more legal as we retain and build on the original chassis from the donor vehicles. (as per Federal regulations, source NHTSA)

No one cares what you do but don't go on here preaching how legal you are. There is nothing legal about the truck you have for sale in CA. Anyone with half a brain can look at it from the back and know the rear cross member on a true eighties truck looks nothing like that. You have zero photo documentation of your rebuild because there is none. There was no rebuild. All you did for your restoration was swap the VIN. Odds are not well. I suggest you be quiet about it. Just because you are out of the country doesn't make you immune to our laws.

Why do you care what I say about your truck or Julians?

You sold your truck. Time to close your account.

This is on the borderline of libel. If you don't know for a fact that the claims you make are in fact true, you might want to not talk about something you know nothing about...

i know a lot of people with the same attitude as you and i sincerely feel sorry for them. trashing others and generally being a pugnacious bully won't get you very far in life. maybe if you changed your perspective some day you could be posting here about your dream car... instead you'll most likely make a snide remark to this and keep at your go nowhere 9-5 wondering why the world sucks so much.. enjoy that path. looks like you are already pretty far down it.

Have to tell you I've read most of the threads on "rebuilds" and "imports" and I am STILL confused as hell as to what is legal and what is NOT!!!!

More importantly I don't understand if it IS illegal what ramifications it may have?!?!?

I don't say or ask this to support gray market but simply to really find out.

Title?? Seems like there is usually not much problem here and once it's done you just keep up on re-registration to keep your plates.

Insurance?? I've got Chubb and they will insure a box with wheels on it for whatever $ you want and quote you for it too obviously.

Police?? If your title and registration and tags are in order don't think they would otherwise really care.

EPA?? If they have a hard on for you I guess you could get into trouble here but does this really happen with enough frequency to freak everyone out?????

Again, I've read this stuff over and over and when I think I finally understand it..........I hear from people who say otherwise!!!!!!

I would have loved this truck. I emailed Daniel and he immediately responded and sent links to 20-30 pictures. The truck is really outstanding. Sorry to hear he sold it......sorry for my sake.....LOL.

In the few emails I had with Daniel he seemed like a very straight up guy so I would caution everyone to not make assumptions and jump all over him. I know he's a new member but let's give him benefit of the doubt and some respect.......If anything he is stimulating some good discussion.
