Lol, freebie from the dealer?

It is a technical bulletin, not a recall, so they will charge you 1 hour of labor to do the update.

From my May 18th post in another thread:

Feels if it hesitates for a 1/4 second thinking do I remain in 2rd or 3rd during this acceleration, or kick down to 1st gear? It would be smooth if a softer acceleration (remain in 2rd or even possibly 3rd) or smooth if a harder acceleration as it would instantly kickdown to 1st. It is difficult to reproduce, but the end result is not smooth when kicking down to 1st. 62k on the ODO. Is this normal?
Does this sound like the software issue? Now 72k on the ODO. No changes in the last 10k.

Similar, but I had a longer dwell between pedal and acceleration- maybe ~1 sec. Happened anytime there was a descent, a braking period below ~15 mph, and then acceleration again.

After the update- you can still feel a slight hesitation, but it's negligible.

Just get the update, it will probably fix it. The symptoms listed in the bulletins aren't always exact for every car.

[QUOTE=1of40;695498]PM me the buyer's contacts so I can let him know how shady you are. Maybe that'll help my chances. And we better see your ass at a HH before you leave us AGAIN.

Ha. Just seeing this. He knows. I'll be out of town on the 17th, but should be able to make it in January... Way overdue.

Congrats on the sale. Please share on the $33k in maintenance and repairs over the last few years. Thinking many here would be interested in what went right and wrong during your ownership.

My 06 has been bulletproof so far, with the exception of the EAS. Which I was surprised to see you didn't mention at all. Not even a desiccant replacement needed?

There were minor EAS issues earlier on (and desiccant has been replaced once); just listed the most recent and significant repairs.

Thanks. Keep in mind that the $33k in maintenance/repairs covers a period of about 6-7 years, and involved everything from oil changes to the transfer case. That said, nearly $20k of that has been spent since 2013. I have a flight later today, and will try to put this into a new thread so that it can be more easily found.

Roger that. Yeah I just got my dryer rebuild kit in the mail today. All told these are such great trucks. Your buyer got a great deal.

This truck is the exception not the rule on the reliability/cost of ownership on the LR3 and shouldn't be a reason to stay away from the model. Glad you found a buyer, he shouldn't need anything done for 200k more miles!

really? I worry about electronics lasting that long. I hope you are absolutely right cause I'm searching for an LR4 at the moment. I was just having drinks with a friend last night and she's had the last two vehicles (non rover) get to a point where the electronics could not be economically sorted so she decided to trade-in. Sucks.

Sounds like she needs to find a new mechanic.

The economics were not there. In other words parts and labor not lack of skill per se. She's one of the smartest people I've ever worked with and I can't imagine she rolled over easily two times in a row.

At a local Rover indie shop I've seen the corroded wires under the carpets of these LR's and corroded fuses that have to be pulled. Not pretty. This shop has seen instances where a bulb will go out and causes the transmission to not shift automatically. Electronics are a scary mess and the automakers are passing the buck to the soft consumer more interested in flash and renting their vehicles and cell phones.
