FS: 1987 Defender 110 2.5 TD LHD

Hi everyone, I'm selling my Land Rover Defender 110 2.5 TD (turbo diesel). This is a European imported truck, I had it brought in from Hungary. I have a clear South Carolina Title and Registration on hand, vehicle is completely legal! Truck runs well, drives smooth, and is a lot of fun! Starts up every time, transmission shifts smooth. Odometer reads 177,000 km which is about 110,000 miles. There is no body or chassis rot, however the typical Defender oxidization is on the body panels. No rot under the door plates, with the exception of the rear door. Truck is originally mint green, it has at some point been repainted here and there as over-spray is evident in a few spots on trim work. Interior is also all original, seats 10. All wipers, headlights, speedometer, heater and blower and clock work great. Fuel gauge is a bit funky, but gas light acts as a warning for low fuel. New fluids in transmission and diffs, recently rebuilt alternator and brakes. New fan belt and fresh oil change. Pin-hole exhaust leak on downpipe, seat belts don't retract (probably need to be replaced) and cig lighter does not work. Also missing side fender vent, one top fender vent is broken and missing front passenger side step.

Asking $23,900

I love this truck, gets complements and stares all the time! I wish I could keep it, but I need the funds. For more info and pics just call/text me at 843 384 4835 or e-mail! Located in Bluffton, SC.

Thanks for looking.

I saw your truck the other day. IF you want replacement vents, I have lots. I am right across the bridge from you.

Yeah that would be nice, do you have any used ones? I could come by and get them tomorrow if you are available.

Truck is back up for sale. After dealing and wasting time for several months with a buyer he disappeared due to a "family emergency."

I need this thing gone, so MUST SELL!

$17,000 takes it.

Looks like a decent deal -- sure wish this had been around about a year and a half ago! GLWS

Wow. I had a discussion with an importer on here a three years ago who claimed that ROW trucks would increase in value and NAS would hold or decrease in value as more ROW trucks hit the 25 year mark. It didn't make sense to me; I'm far from Mr. Right, but $17k? This truck would have fetched much more then. GLWS.

Edit, I actually saved the PMs because I thought his responses were so, um, interesting.

Thanks for the positive response guys.
Supply and demand, seems demand is far down.

The guy who flaked on me had originally agreed to 20k, but well where is he lol.

I just need the truck gone now, hope someone else can make good use out of it!

X3. I was beginning to think the 110 I have for sale is cursed. It is a great LHD 110 but I've had 3 buyers get to that point where you just know it's the right fit. Right truck and right buyer. Three times the wife has vetoed the purchase. I'm feeling very fortunate. My wife and I don't need to caucus on shit like this. Life is too short to ring your hands and wait for perfect opportunities or worry about what others might think re your buy.

I saw it earlier this year and passed. But for the right price I will come look at it again.
Will give you a ring. I have to be in Bluffton this afternoon anyway.

I had the same issue when I posted mine, I think it has more to do with the condition of the truck (UN-restored) then perceived value. The majority of buyers aren't 20 year old kids who know how to turn a wrench and are excited for the monthly (sometimes weekly) service. The majority of buyers are 40+ who know how to turn a wrench and just don't want to spend all their free time doing it. Also the 40+ buyer has done his research and knows what options/trim/drivetrain they are looking for.

C'est la vie, I was lowballed to no end, the forum is your best chance at selling your truck for what its worth.

GLWS!
