For SALE '97 D90 SW White #2143

Fellow D-90 Members, I am finally selling my White '97 D90 Station Wagon. After 9 years of Defender 90 ownership, it is time to sell. No twins, no remodeling, no major life events. Perhaps, in my old age (36) I am getting a little soft, but I am buying one of the "Drive Around the World" Discovery's. . .

Mods:
35" Pro-Comp XTerrain's on 15" Pro-Comp rims (10,000 miles on the tires)
Rockware winch Bumper
10,000 lb MileMarker winch
Driver and Passenger side line-x'd (I painstakingly unbolted, un-riveted, and had it all sprayed)
Bulkhead line-x'd as well
2 Hella 4000's Euro-beam
Mantec Snorkel
K&N Airfilter
Diamond Plate
Shrockworks Tire Carrier (carries 2 jerry cans and high lift)
OME Steering Stabilizer (10,000 miles)
OME Shocks and Springs (10,000 miles)
Rock Sliders
H4 Sealed Beam Headlights
Sealed vents with Series 3 vent seals
Hood Pins
Custom Dash - ready for your GPS, stereo, or other customization
Hood Mounted Shovel
Viper Alarm
Defroster, rear wiper, and washer controls relocated to center console

All regular maintenance, maintained at the Rover Shoppe in Houston, TX. I off-roaded my soft-top, but never this one (well, dirt-roads). There is one scratch on the driver's side fender (I ran over my brother-in-law's bike). You can call me if you have any questions, or if you need other pictures. $31,000 OBO.

Matt, I'm not in the market, but your tires caught my eye (nice looking truck btw). What spring lift do you have on that?

Additional Information

I believe it turned into a 2"+ lift with the OME springs. I bought the set-up from Expedition Exchange, and I followed their recommendations. That way it fit in my old garage (with some modifications to the garage of course).

I have really liked the Pro-Comp X-terrains.

BUMP.

Last I checked, I will not be allowed to keep two Land Rover's in the driveway!!

Check again..... It takes time and patience, but it's possible (and yes you might be allowed to go and play with the rover for about 3 or 4 months.... But this is worth it! ;-)

So the 2" is a body lift? 35" make the truck look nice(r than the stock 32").

Matt,

Which Drive Around The World truck are you getting? I have the EDU truck and live in the Houston area as well. Are you a member of the HLRC? We should meet up after you get your truck.

Drive around the world: http://www.drivearoundtheworld.com/
The trucks (Discovery) they used are for sale in some dealership (there were two for sale close to where I live). They were for sale for a high premium.... They look nice but I think you are paying for the fact that they went around the world and the price makes you even more sorry to not have been yourself (I don't think any money from the sale is donated to any charitative association).

Not sure about EDU, but I am sure Google can help! :-)

DATW Trucks

Most of it is right - except for the premium. I got a 2003 Discovery II with 28K miles, none of the around the world abuse, and all the gear I would want to put on the truck myself (well maybe a few minor changes) - the price was dead even than me buying the same Disco II (blue book at $16,595 + $10K in equipment, mods, and stickers) with as many miles and adding all of the gear myself. With the added bonus of all the stickers hiding blemishes in the paint! (Mostly I am just jealous that you get to keep your D90). The money went to the charitable purpose of paying off the previous owner's note.

As for the other guy in Houston - well he won his in a raffle (free). That would make the average price for DATW Discovery's in Houston about 13K - no premium there.

Can I go as many places as in my D90? No, but then I can't haul the same amount of gear in comfort (I don't lose 10 lbs in sweat on my commute to work). As far as regretting going around the world, well I don't think I could have snuck buy Osama in Pakistan - no regrets here. At least, that is what I tell myself to sleep at night

BTW - someone on this list please buy my truck. It makes me sad looking at it, and I really am going to put on E-Bay soon.

Well.... I had been quoted $50K for a "drive around the world" Disco..... This is what I call "premium"! ;-) At that time I was toying between getting a LR3 and one of those DATW Disco.... I ended up buying neither of those.... Now, I know I want to get a Range Sport..... But I'm waiting for 3 or 4 years and will get a used one! :-)

To answer the question about what the EDU stands for, all of the trucks were numbered 1 to 8. All 8 were equipped similarly, 1-4 were used for the actual event. Mine is #5. It was used to promote the event and toured schools across the US educating students about Parkinson's. All of trucks have a decal in rear window with the truck number but mine was dubbed ED or EDU for the "education" truck. 6-8 were used by Land Rover to promote the event and toured dealerships across the country. All 8 trucks were donated by Land Rover Certified to the event. When the event was over a drawing for one of the trucks was held from all of the people that had donated during the event and I was the lucky recipient. The other trucks were then auctioned off and the funds were donated to the Parkinson's institute. I don't have any hard numbers but to my knowledge none of trucks brought 50k. I am sure a few of the trucks have changed hands a few times by now.
