I think Dro was saying that he was surprised that at $45k it was "reserve not met" and not sold. Anyone else - including him - would have been more than happy about that kind of return!

Me included. There is often a moment in an auction when the reserve should be taken off.

In light if all the recent discussion surrounding this vehicle, I suspect there may be some new factors that have the current owner rethinking whether or not he should sell.

If this is the case, then not removing the reserve, or setting it where it would not be met, would make a lot of sense.

He stated the reserve was set at a price he had been offered privately so one must assume he has sold it outside of eBay for higher than that amount.
