Feeler: 1985 D90 Arles Blue

Since I am a glutton for punishment and since you all know the story behind my rig I am putting a feeler out there to gauge interest and see if anyone is trying to get into a nice spec 90 for the summer.

Spec:
1985 Defender RHD
Engine/Driveline:
300 TDI conversion, new alternator, water pump, head gasket
Rebuilt R380, rebuilt 1.4 T case
Balanced Propshafts (1200 miles ago)
24 Spline front and rear axles, all LR
New exhaust
Body:
300 TDI smooth roof with alpine windows, matched to body color
Refreshed rear door
Push button Front doors, all refreshed (door gaps are not fantastic but I imagine could be remedied)
Silver painted diamond plate to match the td5 headlight surrounds
Aircon Front grill
Masai 5pc window kit with sliding rears, factory tint, also heated rear door glass and heated windshield
Masai Tree Sliders with silver steps
Masai Rear tire carrier
Interior:
Masai Vinyl rebuilt front seats (heated)
No radio (could not decide what to do with it, still struggling a bit on that front)
No Cubby (same issue, too many choices, did not pull the trigger
MuddUK bulkhead removal bar fitted (seats recline much farther, did not install seat rails as I am 6' and didn't need the leg room)
Masai Window trim kit
Frame:
New Galvenized Richards Chasis
New Diesel Tank with all new senders
New Brake lines
New Fuel Lines
Poly bushed
rebuilt everything really.

Long story short this truck retained the rear tub and sides, and the front clip. Everything else has been replaced with 300 TDI spec parts.

Full album of photos can be seen here:

Most recent photo with the 34 XCL included (depending on price):

My gut number considering the complete and total body off respray, the new chassis and all new plumbing, the rebuilt axles with all new brakes, the 300 TDI and the reman driveline may be high but I don't know, since I have seen restored trucks running old TDs and 2.5NA trucks asking almost $30K with a frame on respray I would think this truck is a bit more desirable.

I am not selling it because my love of landrovers has ended, quite the contrary, since this rebuild took a long time (and since my life has changed so much in the past 2 years) I simply do not have a sincere attachment to this vehicle. I am ready to earn my bloody knuckles badge and the only way I can do that is to get dirty on my next land rover.

My sell today price is $38K, I open the floodgates of D90 for input and remember its a feeler (for now)

I bolded your asking price (hope you don't mind) as I originally thought you were asking the other price you listed above it so I wanted to make it more noticeable.

Cheers, thank you, please note I am looking for input regarding price, I have looked all over but I have less of an idea of what these trucks sell for and more of an idea of what people ask for them.

I realize ebay and CL (ACK/MA/RI) are likely places to get this truck sold but I respect everyone on this board and know its a valuable resource (and will be more valuable when I begin my own build)

That looks awesome with the XCLs. Perfectly proportioned with the lift.

I can vouch for much of the work on this truck. The paint definitely looks fantastic. Good luck with the sale Jason.

Yeah, I've decided my new hobby for the next year would be hitting myself in the head with a hammer rather than undertake another defender rebuild. It's certainly less painful than dealing with some outside vendors!
(Luckily time heals all wounds and fools repeat their mistakes.....110 here I come:-) )

Funny stuff. It is painful sometimes isn't it? My respect for these guys managing Rover shops has increased 1000x.
