Evoque wanted

Someone very near and dear has her heart set on an Evoque Pure Plus. If anyone has a line on one, or knows of a good deal, let me know. Thanks.

I can get one at the auction for you. I wouldnt charge any service or paperwork fees. It would be purchased in manheim, PA, I'd have to drive it to our shop in NY and could drive it to my house in NJ where you could pick it up.

Tell your friend to buy an LR2. Its very similar to the Evoque but with fewer blind spots. FYI a dealer can't sell a new car to someone out of their market area. Doesn't matter for used.

Thanks but an LR2 is absolutely not in the picture.

I've bought quite a few new cars out of state. You register and apply for tag once back home.

Its against the dealers franchise agreement for them to sell to customers out of their sales area. Some Land Rover dealers have overlapping territories. Dealers can do a dealer to dealer transfer if another dealership has a vehicle one of their customers wants.

Fair enough. I say that to everyone looking for an Evoque. Best of luck to you. Do they want new or used? I don't think we have any used Evoques on the lot, but I think we have a few as service loaners that will be sold eventually.

On a related note.... a buddy of mine asked me what I thought of the Evoque. Long story short - his wife wants one and he thinks that because I drive a Series that I know all about ALL Land Rovers.

But seriously, we have all seen where most of Rover's product offerings fall on the JD Powers reliability lists. What I do not know if how the Evoque has aged? Are they OK or are they "just as reliable" as the rest of the product lines?

I don't know anything about reliability ratings, but I don't really pay much attention to them. Newer Land Rovers ('06+) are light years ahead of anything previously produced by JLR. The LR2 is by far the most reliable Land Rover, and the Evoques don't really have any problems yet. You can expect the rear differential pinion bearing to wear out, but that's about it. The 2.0l motor is still too new to tell, but I think it will be good.

That 2.0 is the same 2.0 Ecoboost used by Ford. Maybe some minor tweaks so let's call it Euroboost,

But the Evoque seems awfully similar to the Escape/Kuga.

In term of reliability, I skipped a bunch of generations, so I'm not the best for "first hand experience" feedback. But so far, my '06 LR3 has been as reliable as my '96 Disco. In short: no problem whatsoever, only regular maintenance.
What I did find with the LR3 is that the computer stuff will cost you because at some point, you will need to go to a place that has one..... I expect this to change in the years to come and more cars make it to the used market and in more enthusiast hands.

Just hurry up and finish the 109 (or is that why she wants it - because you are almost getting yours?).

Otherwise talk to goose.

What? When did the franchise agreement change? I have shopped at several dealers (whose areas do not overlap at least as of when I worked for one) and no one said "I can't sell you one."

Thanks. It's time to replace her car, and she likes them. I might get to drive it now and then.
Gustavo, could I drop by your office and surf the inventory? Maybe next week?

It could be a new thing since there have been a shortage of the newer Land Rovers. We can't sell to "shippers". I think we can sell to someone in NoVa, but not someone in New York. I'm not in sales, so I don't know the specifics, however the GM was the one telling me about it.

A LR dealer can sell outside its. AOR but it will cost you half of your business builder and a allocation unless it is NJ or Texas which are open. I believe you get two spots per quarter that you can sell outside your territory.

That makes sense, thanks for the clarification.

I'm doing a pre delivery inspection on an Orkney Grey Evoque Pure Plus right now.
