Should have left it untouched.

How does "restoration" affect market price for CT trucks?

Its the truck that was for sale in Italy a couple years ago. It was in ok shape and they have made it as new and taken all the patina away. IMO they have detracted from its value, not added to it.

Yep.. I'd pay more for an original truck..!!well I wouldn't pay more than what he's asking.. But by the time you sell it in original condition and add the money they spent to "restore" it he would probably come out in front..

Nene Overland....the place that bought BLR.....

They admit to respraying it. Which as Uncle Doug says detracts from the vehicle which by their own account was in good body condition just sun faded paint.

At least they did a nice job in my opinion... It’s nice to see a similar vehicle as mine in that condition. I would personally never do that to the vehicle though.

And everything looks good/ original. The only thing that I can find is that the jerrycan holders aren’t in the correct mountain locations (according to the original pictures I have from the German vehicle... then again, the Italians might have mounted the different).

Strange, no roll cage fitted. I thought all CT's had roll cages.

Good catch. I missed that. I'm pretty sure (99.95%) that CT trucks were all cage equipped as well.

1984 was the last year where they did not have roll cages.

1 of the German teams (obviously not the one I have) rolled pretty bad.
Starting at 11:52 of this video.

After that roll, they had roll cages.

Good luck getting any information on the truck. I contacted the seller and never got a response. this is something I've come across with several dealers recently. Nits like they don't want to have to answer questions about their product.

I have a friend of a friend that is interested in this truck...any additional details about the particular vehicle, or any concerns with the seller (Nene) please shoot me a pm or email.

My advice would be spend 2% more and go see it and get to know the organization a bit better at the same time. I'm sure it would be a blast.

very nice restoration regardless. The correct way to fix the patina issue is to take it on the pan american highway end to end. then it's look perfect.

it's just me, but I'd have to add a later style camel trophy roll cage regardless of the purist mindset. Leave it as is only if it's going to sit in a garage or museum. And if that was the case, then it shouldn't have got any restoration at all in the first place.
