Decided to sell my D90

After a lot of back-and-forth, Iíve come to the decision to sell my Defender. Itís a Coniston Green Ď94 Soft Top, #590. As some may know from my posts, I bought this in January of Ď09 as a crash-damaged vehicle thinking it would be a great way to get into Defender ownership and satisfy my desire for a vehicle restoration project.

It was a clean, one-owner Texas truck with a good service history and just under 43,000 miles on it when it was hit in the left front and so it made a great candidate for restoration.

With the advice of many on this forum (special thanks to Ron, Dendy and Kelly), many shipments of parts from Roverís North and RDS, the skilled painting of Reggie from Rovers Plus, and a lot of nights and weekends, by the end of the year I had a completely restored and very nice D90. My original intent was simply to fix the body damage and give it a quick re-spray and have a great trail rig. But the more I got into it, anal retentiveness took over and I went well beyond just replacing the damaged bonnet and fenders but going over the entire truck. I added new-style doors because I really liked the roll-up windows and loads of detail parts like new lamps and trim where the originals were faded. The interior was really clean and I only decided to add a new factory rear load floor mat and a stereo system since the original was stolen in shipping.

After all this I have a beautiful, great running truck with just one problem- itís just not the right truck for me. With all the time and money spent on it, I just canít bring myself to take it off-road (went once and was nervous about damaging it the whole time.) And letís just say that, while my wife is a fan of Land Rovers, she has never taken to this truck from day-one which only further complicates matters (and adds a lot of grief to my life.) So Iíve decided to satisfy myself Land Rover lust with my Disco II for the time being and let this truck go on to someone else to enjoy while I seek out the my next project.

Iím having a hard time figuring a fair price since it has been repaired (though it does not have a salvage title) but given the condition and low mileage, Iím going to start at $26,500 and we what the response is. I have extensive documentation and photos of the repairs as well as service history. If anyone here is interested or knows of someone who might be, send me an email at vonphillips at comcast dot net and I will get back with you.

Clint those are station wagon doors. Also found on later model 110s. Most vendors here can provide them afaik.

Those are just the new door style from what I can tell. You can get new-take-off from 2007+ for about 400GBP each and have fully steel doors with all the updated trim.

Guys:

Thanks for the replies. Correct on the doors- they are new station wagon take-offs that I got from Kelly. One of my originals had a crease in it and it made more sense to me to add these with the roll-up windows rather than spend a bunch more on body work and still not have windows that open all the way.

Cheers,

CARL

Carl,

Don't do it... 98% are disappointed once they sell and lust after finding another. You can hide it at my house if you need too.

I agree, you will probably regret selling it.
Can you post some pictures with the soft top off and the D110 doors on? I'm having a hard time imagining what that would look like. And do you still have the half doors?

Hey Carl some salesman from Land Rover Nashville dealership tried to sell me your truck on Sunday.
He sent me pictures of it, told me all about it -how pristine showroom perfect it was - and offered to sell it to me for $32,000. The same salesman then offered to sell me a yellow D90 (which I found was actually for sale at Nashville Motorsports) that he also did not own with a $10k markup.

No wonder why dealers have such bad reputations. Not a sin to make money. But give me a break.

Point of clarification. I have no affiliation with Land Rover Nashville, but my handle is Nashville Rover.
I am not the person mentioned here, but it chaps me that someone would find it strange that a dealership would be trying to make money.
As it turns out ... Land Rover Nashville sold BOTH D-90's that Nashville Motor Sports had on ebay ... and made a profit on both. And someone has a problem with that? For it to have been any other way would be un-American!
Just sayin.
D

PS: I am familiar with Carl's truck and it is a sweet ride!!

Sale Pending

Thought I'd calm the waters here and let you all know that I have a sale pending to one of the members here. He contacted me and was serious from day-one and provided everything goes through this week, he will be on his way home with a new toy.

And thanks Dendy for the compliment on my truck, I couldn't have done it without you- or at least a few of your spares ;-)

Cheers,

CARL

Sold

Sale is complete and the truck will be on its way back to the very happy original owners. Long story to come.

And a special thanks to JEFHUF for his consideration to make this possible. And best wishes to him on finding another truck.

Thanks,

CARL
