(Chelsea Truck Company) Custom options on 97 D90

Hey guys-

I am new to the forum and just got a 97 NAS D90. It is a beautiful truck with a little rust and I am considering re-doing the interior and adding a body kit. Does that hurt the value of my truck? I think what the Chelsea Truck Company is doing is badass, but I know it takes it away from being a standard collectors piece.

Would appreciate your help and opinions!

Please sell the truck before you vandalize it.

Do what you want. It's your truck.

My wife just told me a story this morning about when she was in high school in St. Louis. All the cool girls would order cherry cokes and French fries. She really wanted a cheeseburger. I asked why she didn't and she said she wouldn't be cool.

Order a damn cheeseburger, Josh!

Don't do that to a NAS. Sell your NAS, and buy a beater 90 from the UK that you can "modify." There is zero chance you don't devalue a NAS by adding the plastic crap to it.

Op,

I have a 95 NAS truck and I also like some of what Chelsea and Khan have to offer. I am not talking about a wide body kit (on a NAS truck) but the leather door panels and a few other items have caught my eye. Its your truck man, do with what you please.

Like others have said, if flipping it is what you have in mind you should leave stock.

I have inward facing jump seats on the way w a new cubby box... Then cleaning up the door panels and getting the inside tub painted black as the paint has scratched.

Have fun. Here is mine thus far.

Yes! You are certainly free to do what you want, but without question it will hurt the value value of your truck. Don't believe me? - visit copleymotorcars.com and see which vehicles command the highest prices...stock or very close to stock vehicles. These guys sell Defenders (and other classics and sport cars) for a living, and generally set the bar for NAS Defender pricing. You don't ever see highly modded defenders on their site. Either way, enjoy your truck. ------ Follow up post added April 16th, 2017 01:59 PM ------

Congrats on your new D90

If it is possible, leave the NAS D90 as is. In the future when you have the extra funds, buy yourself a ROW D90 and convert that to Khan Specs.

OR

As you know, life is short, do what you like.

Nope. Don't do anything that's not reversible.

what he said.

And if you want different seats and door panels... those are easy to swap, but make sure the shop knows/understands you want the original parts back - make them put request into the work order.

I'll echo what everyone else said, don't permanently cut, screw or glue any flair to the body. Just make sure it is bolt on stuff that can be easily reversed and the truck brought back to original condition should you decide to sell. And keep all the original items you removed safe and in good condition. Lastly enjoy that cool truck of yours!
