Big Red is now for sale

All,
I hate to do it, but I have to sell my 110 that I just got back from federal custody. Many of you know the circumstances of its theft, and eventual release. Also, you all probably know about the white 110 I now have that replaced Red. Until a few months ago, I was 100% sure I would never see the red truck again, but Mr. Will Hedrick had other plans for me. Now I have two trucks sitting in front of my house.

Over the past year, I have spent the majority of my free time, and every spare penny in my bank account, trying to get the white 110 restored and running. I have an immeasurable amount of blood, sweat, and tears into the white truck, as well as a credit card balance now, and it is still not running. This is why I need to sell the red 110. Most people have asked why I dont keep the red one, and sell the white one. Well, the white truck is set up and configured exactly how I always wanted my 110 to be, and Ive put much more effort into it than the red truck.

While I was in Iraq, I spent about $10k on parts and labor to restore/improve the drivetrain, and make a few key upgrades, to the red truck just before the feds stole her. This truck runs like a top, and Robert Davis can attest to that. It doesnt look pretty, with its faded red paint, and numerous dents and dings, but I was building a truck for the trails, not for the mall parking lot.

It is a bare bones truck, perfect for thrashing on the trails, or taking camping. The bulkhead is solid as can be, and the door bottoms are excellent as well. The frame has surface rust from sitting in federal impound for 2 and a half years, exposed to the elements and salty air in Virginia Beach. It needs a good wire-brushing, and a coat of chassis black, but there is no corrosion that I can find.

The interior has been sprayed with Line-X, so you can spray it out with a garden hose. The new Corbeau Moab neoprene seats are a little dirty, but only have about 100 miles of ride time on them. They have weatherproof Corbeau seat covers on them as well.

It will need new tires soon, and I have been toying with the idea of putting new ones on, but I think it might be a good idea to let its next owner to put whatever tires they want on it.

I have a list of new parts that were installed, and the work that was done before it was seized, so if you want to see that just PM me and I will email it to you.

I will get some more detailed pictures of the important areas as soon as I have some daylight time (probably this weekend).

The Ebay listing has some pictures, as does the Craigslist ad. I posted the truck to those sites first just to shoot for the stars and see how much interest there would be in the truck. I honestly dont think it will sell at the price Ive listed, or set as my reserve on Ebay. I hope someone from this community will be interested in it, and take good care of her.

D90 Source Member Price: $12,500

*Remember, this is a solid truck with a PERFECT 300tdi/R380 drivetrain, with rear disc brake conversion.

I hope this truck goes to someone who will enjoy it, and not try to flip it or use the title for something else.

This community has been very generous to me, and I've made friends with a lot of great people here. I wish I could sell it for even less, but I'm so strapped for cash I just need to sell it quick.

Sorry guys, I work from sunrise to sunset these days, and haven't had a chance to take some detailed pictures yet. I will get some posted this weekend. In the meantime, there are some pictures on the Craigslist ad that aren't as recent. Only difference is that the red paint has faded a little bit.

I am new so a little unfamiliar with this trucks past but will do a little research on the backstory. That is a great truck and exactly what I am looking for - I will look into shipping costs to AZ.

This is the famous truck that started it all. It feels like family. Id like to have it just for sentiment.

Do you have a clean Virginia title? I'd love to own big red but would like to be sure that she'll be able to be registered here in California.

Thanks,

Mark

I was able to take some pictures this morning of the crucial areas of the truck (chassis, door bottoms, bulkhead, footwells, etc.)

The door bottoms and footwells are solid, and the bulkhead is excellent. The frame, as I mentioned before, now has surface rust from 2.5 years of neglect. Nothing serious though. If there are any trouble spots, I guess it would be the rear crossmember, but it still doesnt look very bad.

Id still say this is a hell of a good truck for $12,500.
