I have had several locals who have been watching the auction contact me and come look at the 90. I'm hoping V**V is one of them.

I know there are some board members that probably wouldn't pay 25,000.00 for any car and you know who you are! And that is fine by me but anyone who is into diesel knows that a conversion to a 300Tdi alone is at the least 10k, ad that even to a POS worn out D90 and you are over my reserve. This thing is spotless!

Thanks by the way to those of you who appriciate what I've done. If it's a no sale I'll just have to finish it, I'm just itching to get started on my 110!

One of my favorite projects. Only thing I ask is why you didn't galv the rear corner cappings?

I like them painted...... I did galvanize the ones on my 110 but I still think I like them better painted.

I'm going to wait a week or so to let the dust settle and see if one of the people who expressed interest in the 90 steps up and buys it. If not I will finish the build and sell it done. I just have so much going on that I would like to be working on a project that I plan to keep!

My cappings were done the same way, ie galvy and then powdercoat. Galvy alone looks too "undone". On mine the cappings and corners are painted "gray" so it gives the same "two tone" effect but without the "bass boat" look.

No. They do a light "bead blast" to rough up the galvy and then shoot PC.

If you finish the build what would you sell it for then?

That would be a great thread by itself, ie what is a D90 worth with "XYZ" done to it, ie galvy chassis, engine transplant, etc, etc.

I agree, I wish I had the know how, time, and shop to do something like this. I enjoy reading the threads where guys have done this stuff. I've never been mechanically inclined. I figure I'll either spend the money to have someone work on mine or buy one already done the way I want. (that would be Black or Arles Blue 110 like ECR did a while back.)

You're within $900 of your reserve. Are you really not going to pursue that offer? That's why I call bullshit, as Trevor did, on the eBay bidding.

Barry,

I live by the "don't respond to critics" theory. So don't sweat it, I'm not!

He's a douche on every board he comments on. It's pretty funny that he has an opinion on everyones business, but he was dumb enough to have a trailer trash wedding in the dirt! freakin hilarious!! Proves a point that his opinion is shit!

Because this guy is bogus. Are you seriously that much of a fucking idiot to understand that?

$10k TDi? LOL. You give me $10k for a TDi and I'll throw in the transmission, transfer case, intercooler, and install the damn thing for you. Doug at Dividing Creek sells these "kits" all week long at $3,500 if you can be patient enough to have it brought in on a container with additional room.

The Defender is a salvage truck with a salvage title. That alone makes the truck virtually worthless. It does not matter what you do to the vehicle, it's worthless. You can rebuild it all you want, but the title for the vehicle will always say Salvage. Salvaged vehicles are not worth the paper their printed on. No one buys that shit, as proven by the bogus ebay auction. If the truck were finished, with no motor, it might bring $6,500, and that's on a really good day. But this truck is in 500 fucking pieces. It's going to take a rollback plus a u-haul to get it home. Your target buyers are few and far between. People these days would rather buy a running, driving, full-of-rust 200TDi off Aaron or Doug for $12,000 and call it a day.

Am I being a douche about this asshole trying to pawn off his $10,000 truck for $25k? Hardly. I think it's funny. What's even funnier is the comedy team defending his asking price. It makes you all out to look like fucking idiots.

You want examples of a $25,000 Defender? Take a look at Mike Crandall's 110 Double, w/300TDi. Total investment, under $30k. It still has plastic on the seats. http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=32507

Steve Hoare just brought in a 110SW through Dividing Creek. Here is the details:

Complete set windscreen/rear window wiper blades

Selection of Relays
Total investment, about $30k, and he never turned a wrench.

Will Tillery just finished a complete resto of a D130, with 300TDi. Total investment, about $30k.

But I'm the douche for laughing at this guy for asking $25k for a project with a salvaged title.

Can you really make my 90 a 300 tdi for 10k? Does that include the shipping both ways?

I just don't know why you would jump all over a for sale thread. Rules man!!! We have to have rules!

Fuck the rules. Someone comes on here trying to sell a 300M thinking it's a Rolls Royce deserves what he gets. It's not 2006 anymore and these trucks are not fetching the fantasy prices they once did.

$10k including the shipping? Honestly, it could probably be done. Will Tillery and Joel Mercer have talked about doing these swaps on the side for less than that. Robert Davis probably could, too. But Pendy is much closer and I'm sure he could match their prices. But for $10k, I could probably have the shit delivered to your house and do the install in your driveway.

Maybe I am wrong but I think you are delusional about having a fully rebuilt 300 tdi with everything installed for that cheap. Maybe some crap take out that hasn't been gone through but not a completely rebuilt engine, tranny, with all the crap you need.

Please someone else chime in. I have no clue but that price sounds cheap installed especially done factory correct. Still don;t know why you had to shit on the for sale thread. This isnt a new member just trying to rip someone off on the board. I wouldn't want a salvage title but the truck is basically new. Fresh great paint, galv, engine etc.
