I wish I could say it was because I needed the money or something. There are a couple reasons. 1.) It was brought to my attention by my wife that you can't put a car seat in it, a baby would get too hot in it, etc. - and we don't have kids. You can see where that's going. 1a.) I'm in the military and move around about every 2 years and it's too difficult logistically to have a third car, especially where I'm headed in a few months, Washington DC. So that's not an option.

2.) My frequency of offroading has sadly diminished. I can't find many Rover friends too nearby in some of these obscure locations I get sent and my buddies with jeeps, etc. are all too afraid of getting their trucks scratched. My truck is very sad.

So no, I don't want to sell it at all. I've got it just the way I want it. I plan on acquiring another one down the road though - maybe I'll buy mine back

There's a large group of Land Rover wheelers in the mid atlantic region. Check out ROAV.org
I am sure you will find someone to wheel with wherever you are stationed.

The members here that were on the edge to sell or not to sell and sold their defender regretted it.

Easy fix on the moving the rover around with you from location to location. Just rent a large moving truck, back it up to a loading ramp or flat bed truck then roll the 90 into the rental. Strap down, apply some blocks and your done. Know more then one NCO that did that.

Dang, that's the problem I've been running into - most of the peoople/trips are in Northern New Mexico/Colorado so each trip usually requires a 5-hour drive up the day prior.

------ Follow up post added July 15th, 2010 03:38 PM ------

Hey Todd, I see you're in Taos and I assume that's your white D-90 on the magazine pic. Did you host my buddy Jay (Blue '94 D-90) and I at your house for a day or two back in '99 on a trip we took? I think we met up at Taos for skiing then back to your place for cocktails?

I didn't think you guys were allowed out of the State but once a year?

Freeze.... Don't sell the truck you will regret it forever.

My kids spent their early years in a CJ7 soft top on 37's and no AC, they're doing pretty good so far (proud Dad)!

Plus ROAV is a great bunch of guys!!!!

Yeah, that was out last year at the Academy. Jay just moved to Scott AFB, IL. He's been flying C-130's in Alaska then Little Rock, AR before that. He's still got his D-90...plus 2 kids!

Agreed, don't sell it. You'll regret it. Lots of Defender enthusiasts in DC. I have 3 cars (2 of them Rovers) and survive with street parking in DC. It's not as bad as you might think. Your wife's complaints about the D90 are just like mine. Ha ha!
