94ST For Sale? Perhaps?

I thought I might test interest here for the possible sale of my AA Yellow 94 NAS D90 ST prior to my transfer overseas. I already know for sure Iíll be looking to sell my red NAS 97SW later this month or next month, and Iíll soon get that one all written up and a separate post added as Iíve been threatening to the past few weeks.

Iíve been planning since finding out about my next assignment to keep this truck, and already have it arranged for the Navy to cover the expense of indoor managed warehouse vehicle storage while Iím gone. Iíve been asking myself, however if I really want to keep it in storage for two-plus years and if perhaps the dough could be better used. As such, if it generates the interest (i.e. price) to convince me to sell it, I will. If not, Iíll keep it and continue to find joy in it when I return from the land of manga, rice-rocket cars, and assorted freaky &*$%. (Just do an Internet search on Japan.) I have a small fortune in this truck as can be seen with the notes to follow, but itís been worth it to me and continues to be so.

Iím sure Iíll forget something, but as I noted walking around it and sitting at my desk, the following info applies to this ride:

- Approx. 155,6XX miles as of 6/4, but you wouldnít know it from looking at the truck. This is the closest thing I have to a daily driver now that the weather is nice. Itís in super condition, runs great, everything works, and it has spent the vast majority of its life in non-northeastern climates (i.e. no salt). I also didnít drive it this winter since transferring to RI last summer in order to keep the road crap off of it. Clear title! Not a salvage, rebuilt, etc.

- Iíve owned it since October of 2010, and bought it from a Rover specialty shop on the West Coast. I bought it completely stock and running well, just needing some basic routine service work that has long since then been completed. All it now has was completed by me or by Rover specialists at my request over the past 2.5 years, with much of it is less than a year old. Worn/weathered components were replaced with new or upgraded ones as noted below, and the car has been well cared for and maintained. New water pump, stainless braided oil lines, sparkplugs, upgraded alternator and similar consumable parts have been replaced within the past twelve months.

- The only real rust/corrosion/ípatinaí to note is some minor surface rust on the spare tire carrier, some on the cage mounting bolts, and assorted paint aging as is to be expected from a nearly 20 year-old car. The frame, bulkhead, rear crossmember, etc. are solid. If I keep it, Iíll have the cage and spare carrier repowdercoated when I get back, and I have a bunch of new spare cage mounting bolts already on hand.

- NAS badge #11, as I understand its history, this was the very first production AA Yellow one sold following the original LR NAS intro demo fleet.

- New (not rebuilt) R380 manual transmission installed by Rover Special Vehicles in Jamestown, RI two months ago. The stock LT77 was working fine with the normal finicky LT77 2nd gear, but I just decided to finally get it swapped out as most other 94s had done under warrantee back in the 90s.
- Boost wheels with 3-month old, <400 mile Goodyear DuraTrac tires, size 285-75R16.
- Factory A/C.
- Old Man Emu springs & shocks, giving a roughly 1.5-2Ē lift from stock and chosen for the current setup for correct ride height, etc.
- Corbeau Moab front seats and rear Safari folding bench seat with Defender-specific Corbeau mounts. Significantly more durable and comfortable than the stock seats. When the stock ones needed recovering, I elected to buy these instead as I had earlier done with my other truck.
- Badger GK-II soft top and black-powdercoated gutter kit. Actually seals against the weather and as leak-free as a D can get!
- Associated full-sized SW doors, of the newer-style, corrosion-resistant post-2007 one-piece type.
- Power windows using updated LR Euro Defender power window regulators.
- VDO gauges.
- Mallory Unilite distributor & coil w/Magnaxxx wires
- Magnaflow exhaust and catalytic converter kits.
- Terrafirma tree bar/rock guard sill protectors.
- ARB front winch bumper.
- Superwinch EPi9.0 winch w/Amsteel blue synthetic line.
- Anderson connector hookup in engine bay for winch connection/jumper cable connection.
- Hella H4 headlight upgrade w/ IPF-ARB wiring harness upgrade.
- (2) Hella 4000 bumper lights and (4) Hella 500 roof lights, controlled by factory LR switch on column.
- LR/Hella Matador rear work light.
- LR Heritage grille & vintage-style Falon engraved badge.
- Painless dual battery setup w/ (2) Optima yellow-top deep cycle batteries & disconnect switch on seatbox
- Tuffy center console.
- Kenwood head unit & 6-CD changer & Ipod control in console w/XM radio control head on dash.
- Polk db650-series speakers F&R.
- WolfFab roof bars Jonathan made for me, recently installed for use with a pair of bike mounts.
- Rear taillight guards.
- Original ownerís manual, extra new-style keys & spare keys for all accessories.
- I also have a new, in-box replacement rear load space rubber mat and a new replacement seat box hardura side trim piece that I havenít gotten around to installing as they havenít yet been needed. I also have a new, upgraded bushing set for the spare carrier for when it gets refinished.

Iím not interested in selling any of the cool stuff on it or parting it out, and should it not garner a price driving a sale, Iíll be happy keeping it too. A trusted and well-respected local Rover specialist friend recommended my asking price when I broached the idea of selling versus storing it to him.

Iím asking $32000 or best reasonable offer here before I contemplate posting it on Ebay. (With Ďreasonable offerí subject to the caveats above. ☺ ) Currently residing in Newport/Middletown, RI, itís close to all the super sweet places a truck like this will make you uber-cool this summer and into the future. (Beantown, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Marthaís Vinyard, the Hamptons, Newport itself, etc., etc.) Even nearby Westerly/Watch Hill, RI seems to be becoming popular with the Hollywood set, and you can buy this badass ride, become your inner John Mayer/Ashton Kutcher, and go score starlets/popstar divas!

After a season in VA of endless leaking around the old tops door seals and half door tops (especially at speed), I went whole hog into making it better with the gutter kit, Badger GK top and SW doors.

As an added benefit, the SW doors when open are much more comfortable for 'arm on the sill' driving. I'm 6'3" and most comfortable with my arm that way and the stock half-door door tops blow for it whereas the SW doors are a lot more confortable and have a larger window aperture.

I sold the stock doors last summer here on the Forum.

Thanks for the post!

BOOM! Sold like that, with deposit already received. Thanks, Jimmy. Sounds like it's going to a great new home. See you in a couple of days.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Why do I feel like my dog died?

Congrats Murph. Very refreshing to hear about a transaction go through without a ton of speculation and shouting from the cheap seats.

I'm the proud owner of Murph's D90, pick it up tomorrow. Always been a Rover guy, have had 3 RR's and one LR3. This Defender will take the place of my '11 SC RR. I'm glad to have it.
Looking forward to meeting everyone at the next NOVA happy hour.

Thanks guys, and thanks again to you, too Billy. (I have no idea why I wrote Jimmy last night. :P Must have been the angst of selling this or the fact that it was the end of a long day.)

Sent you an email a few minutes ago with a bunch of info and some additional photos you asked for.

See you tomorrow.

Did you sell the RRSC? The '10+ RR's are such nice vehicles... especially the SC's... I love my Defender, but it's a love/hate relationship...

no havent sold it yet. the 11 SC RR sport is amazing. Great car but I never drive it. In 2 1/2 years I've put 13k miles on it. I've put a borla exhaust on it, 22 inch black 10 spoke stormer wheels, painted the trim, added the autobiography vents and grille, debadged the back. its a looker and has the sound and quickness of a porsche (520hp). She may keep it and we'll get rid of the LR3. tough decision because with 2 kids the LR3 has more room but the car has no warrenty whereas the Range has full warrenty to 100k miles. Anyway, I'm pretty fired up for the Defender! Murph, see you tomorrow in RI!

Looks like it's back up for sale by redrange for anyone who missed it.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1994-LAND-RO...p2054897.l4275

Starting Bid: $41,500 [0 bids]

sw62hp (151 )

VIN: SALDV2288RA933971

Mileage: 159,860

This is an amazing truck and I swore I'd never sell it when i bought it in June of 2013, but never say never...making room for a new car.
Bought from a Lt Commander in the Navy who was going overseas to Japan, this car was a California Car. It is in such pristine condition and is garage kept and driven on sunny dry days only...no rain, no winter. There is virtually no rust on this car...California grocery getter... Over the course of the last year and half, i've added somethings and have fixed a few things. I've got full record including parts, dates, invoices, exactly what i did and when, that will come with the sale of the car via a google doc.

In addition to the physical specimen that this 90 is, there are many extras that you won't find on a lot of them. Full doors with power windows, also i'll be throwing in half doors with door tops if you decide you want to put those on. The Badger top is flawless and has a plastic window sun roof if you decide to keep the top on.

1994 was the first year that Land Rover was able to import the NAS trucks in and each truck is numbered. This particular one is #11.
Very rare in that Land Rover only imported these into the US in 94, 95 and 97.

Here is a list of the upgraded items:
Air Conditioning
DUAL BATTERY under driver seat for redundancy
CUSTOM SPARE TIRE COVER - I had made with old school Land Rover emblem
JACK
EQUIPT BOX IN REAR. I had made and installed. With lock.
12 inch subwoofer in rear - gives great sound and works well with the brand new head unit I'd put in.
Full work details - Google doc with everything I've done to the truck. When, why, how much, who from etc...
Corbeau seats - HUGELY upgraded seats in front
Garage kept. No rain snow or winter etc
Magnaflow exhaust - great sound!
Powder coated wheels - I'd blackened out the freestyle wheels to match trim.
ARB front bumper with SUPER WINCH which is covered to protect the nylon line.
Hella fog lights and roof lights
Badger top in perfect condition with sunroof
Custom machined grill and Land Rover emblem that previous owner had made in England.
'97 power window doors.
Half doors are being "thrown in" which i just bought for $700.
Virtually no rust
VDO gauges
Locking center console tuffy box
Snorkel
Powder coated air intake grates

This Defender was again, solely a sunny day driver. Almost wondering if I should sell it but the new Porsche gets dibs on the garage.
Good luck and let me know if there are any questions.
