He's an adult / he can make his own decisions, but there are always members here who are looking for Defenders in an entry-level price bracket since most of the ones on eBay and elsewhere are priced $10-20k+ higher than the $24k this truck was priced at.

And yes I was teasing Golden a little about his practices here, since as Barry pointed out this is a hobby for most (and not a business), and when trucks are posted for sale here, they are usually not the dealer prices you see on eBay and the like. Members here are for the most part looking for entry-level priced defenders, and yes I find it a little messed up when Golden or some of the other guys buy the $15-25k trucks that are posted here, and then are quickly sold off to some unknown place for thousands more. But that's purely from the buyer side, and I know that people like Golden and some others do some good by having that cash on hand to be able to make a quick transaction with a seller who may be looking to sell quickly. I just often think of it from the point of view of members I speak with/to who are looking at a truck and have it swept out from under them while they try to get a day off of work to go see the truck in person to make sure it's not a rust bucket, while Golden shells out the cash sight unseen.

I understand the concern but Its not just a business for me and i dont want to be viewed as a typical car dealer. I'm sure you have a job and you get a paycheck for what you do. This is what I do.

Tim, you don’t need to explain a thing. Congrats with starting a sustainable venture that aligns with your hobby and passion. That being said, what is gained by airing your dirty laundry here? The car wasn't advertised or purchased using this forum. Consider taking the high road and keep the discussion with the PO offline.

True. My thoughts were to expose a scam and show people the supposed deals aren't always rainbows and unicorns. And how photogenic a car can become when you use a lot of duck tape and spray paint. Also I would like to post pics of the car as it really is and see if someone wants a project. Can someone please help me figure out the trick to posting pics with an iPad. I attach images but nothing happens when I close the screen. Thanks - Tim

I personally want to see pics. I think it can/would be very useful to see what can happen when you buy a Defender sight unseen from a complete stranger. It would be very educational to all, I'm sure.

Holy crap!!

If that is the new rear crossmember he installed, I would hate to see the old one.

Bummer to see this happened to you.

Yep. After receiving the vehicle today and explaining the issues he still claims "in his own opinion the car is nice". You can still smell the fresh spray paint. it was a scam from the beginning

Yikes. Judging by those pics, I'd say the following from the Craigslist ad were complete bullshit.

Woops that was a picture of the seatbox, not the gas tank cradle. What does the cradle look like??

I guess that footwell could also be "new", but wow...HAHAHA overspray paint on the transmission tunnel and gas pedal? Oh man.

Did he not provide any pictures when you bought it?

None of the work described was done. The seller has been a member here a long time. Seems a bit shocking. Maybe he will chime in.
