94 D90 from Canada NAS

Looking for an opinion on the value of a 94 D90 from Canada. Are these worth less in the USA and does a Canadian truck effect the resale value?

We just had the exact same full discussion on this regarding NAS vs. CDN 110s just 2 days ago if you search.

Some believe they are worth way more because there are fewer of them. Others believe they are worth the same or a little less, because USA was not their home market, and things like speedometer changes, and a history not fully documented on AutoCheck or Carfax, etc. tend to lower value.

Best way to check is bring it in, put it up for sale and see what happens.

My belief is the value will be 1/2 of of your asking price. If I believe it then it must be true.

I am looking to purchase the vehicle not sell it. I appreciate the response. I just want to make sure after I purchase the vehicle it is worth half of the price. I understand the values of these cars since I have owned a bunch, I just have not had experience with a Canadian Defender.

Considering most NAS from 1994 are in the $20s, and they're asking near that for old Defenders from the 80's that have been imported here, as long as you stay in the $20s your value risk is rather low.

The only reason I would think a Canadian defender would be worth less is that it is more likely to be rusty and miles uncertain due to the speedo change. If the one you are looking at is not and has certified miles, I would think it would be worth the same as a US or maybe slightly less because people don't get it.

Are we talking about this one? If so, it looks pretty well worn.

Original km/mileage
Original engine
Original paint
8 cylinder engine
Transmission: Manuel
Body type: 2 Door
Fuel Type: Gasoline

That isn't the one I was looking at. Let me phrase it this way, take two identical D90's, same color, miles, condition, etc. one is from Canada and one is in the USA. Would someone be willing to pay the same for either vehicle?

I say yes. It's still an NAS D90. There is no difference.

If everything is exactly the same except one was originally manufactured for and sold in Canada and the other was US; as a US buyer, I would buy the US NAS every time if the price were the same. Additionally, I suspect 7 or 8 out of 10 US buyers would buy the US version if all else is the same. For me to buy the Canadian it would have to be priced 20-30% less. Just my 2 cents.

I think I'm the high bidder on this one. Reserve wasn't met on my high bid - let's just say the seller thinks it's worth at least $28k.

Like I said, take whatever the asking and go with 1/3 to 1/2. Make them believe it too.

A US NAS and CDN NAS are exactly the same truck with the exception of the number plate, begins with CDN, and the speedometer is in Km. There were maybe less than 100 in Canada and there is just as much salt on the roads in the states so the rot issue is mute. Value is the same in my mind.

I agree, value is negligible of NAS/CDN...and I'd say that condition is everything.
