Not captured by the spec
I'm the second owner of this truck, and bought it in 1997 from a man in Los Angeles that had garaged it and put 14K miles on it since new. It looked like a showroom truck when I found it. Between 1997 and 2001 I wheeled the hell out of it, adding to it, enhancing it, pouring gobs of money into it, and loving every second of it. I was young and dumb and spared no expense kitting it out. It was done correctly. But I also applied it to the tasks for which I was building it and it has battle scars to prove it.
I always fix non-cosmetic problems - correctly - when they crop up.
After a year or so of infrequent driving, I've been using it regularly for the last few months and, it's running very reliably.

This was the cover vehicle of the November 2001 issue of Land Rover World magazine.

Price
I've seen these things priced from $18,500 on the low end to $55K on the high end. It seems to have no relation to condition, location, equipment, etc. The answer lies somewhere in the middle and I'm asking $27K.

Hey - you indicate a 4.6L engine but photos show a 3.9 am I missing something? I was going to ask where you got the install and what the cost was as I am thinking of moving to a 4.6L.

Offering some words of wisdom and not trying to bust up the listing, but you really need to pay closer attention to the details in those listings and recognize the key parts that make the higher dollar truck list the way they do. Condition, mileage and equipment ALL play a huge factor in their pricing.

He's probably using the 3.9 plenum/intake cover with his 4.6L engine.

That's correct. I used a 4.6L Short Block with a 4.2L cam and the 3.9L heads and plenum.

:-) Of course. That said, I still think ASKING prices are all over the map and not that grounded in the realities of the vehicle. Not necessarily true on this board, but if you look more broadly it's definitely the case. CLOSING prices are tougher to come by.

As someone pointed out above, there's a lot of stuff on this vehicle that's pretty tough to come by today. It's lived in California its entire life so rust - real rust, not surface rust on parts where the paint's a little thin - is a total non-issue. There are the typical cosmetic defects one would expect in a truck that's seen trail use, but I don't think someone who sees the value in that long list of features is likely to complain too much about that. It's all there and everything works pretty well, which has value as well. That said, it obviously needs the "right" buyer.

Anyway, Chris I know you're much more in tune with this market than I am, so if you think I'm off the mark with what I'm asking I'd love your perspective via PM.
