The Barrett...well, that's not exactly a 'sniper' rifle...hence the SASR designation, but for most its close enough-and def fun to shoot. Good luck with sale, I'm shocked it hasn't gone already. r- Ray
No matter the designation and connotation with the word "sniper," the Barrett is a highly effective anti-personnel weapon.

I only debate here because this Disco is so sweet. Hmmm

The only way to refer to such a weapon without sounding like a complete poseur is: "Precision Rifle".

That removes any confusion and assures those around you that you aren't confused about your identity or your true intended uses for the weapon. 'Sniper' has so many false connotations even within the military as it is. If a dude told me he bought a 'Sniper Rifle', regardless of his profession, I'd end the conversation as quickly as possible.

I can hardly afford to shoot .223 anymore. I shudder to think of what it would cost to operate a M82.

Bump.

The term "sniper" teamed with rifle is is ridiculous. The sniper sits/stands/lays behind the weapon, whatever it might be and employs it.
As for the much maligned Barrett, Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than 99.9999999% of the Barrett rifles produced.

If the county I live in didn't have ridiculous emissions testing I would be driving this Disco home.
GLWTS!

On the other hand, look up the price for a 1994 Jeep Wrangler... yeah. They ain't selling for the high $20's...
Stock wrangler '97 $6000- $10,000- not comparable to a Defender IMO, unless they are well equipped for off road. Well equped they can sell for high 30's.

In the UK new Defenders start at 23,000. I am sure that Rubicons are probably priced in the UK similar to what a Defender is priced for in the US. I think the argument that Defenders are overpriced is a jeep hype thing, if you look at comparable off road capable 4WD like Jeeps or Toyotas.

At the end of the day, any 20 year old vehicle that costs as much or more than it's original sticker price is expensive and could be viewed as 'over-priced'. No sane man can argue that.

I wasn't the one that started a debate about the off-road worthiness of Wranglers vs. Defenders... it isn't relevant to my original point. A bone stock Remington 700 will send the same projectile, the same direction, with some level of accuracy towards a target... as say a $6000 rifle. The same could be said for a 94' Wrangler with 35s, and a $35K NAS D90. Point being, who are we to judge a man spending $6K on a rifle... we are sort of in a glass house on that one.

lol, what is really interesting is how a 300TDi Disco thread evolved into a thread about *snipers* and Barretts ! Very nice long distance target rifle BTW. Wonder how it would look next to that Disco...

Nice black gun Frank, what is it?. I could never justify a bipod on a gun that didn't have magnified sights though.

It's a hybrid build. Bipod required for my job though I seldom actually mount it. Rock river lower with match grade trigger, Yankee hill upper, rss solutions 16 inch chrome lined barrel, 15 inch Troy vtac rail, bcm gunfighter charging handle, Troy flip up sights, magpul accessories...I'm sure u get the idea

Beautiful 300 tdi Disco. Too bad it's not "tactical" black and able to kill prairie dogs at 1000 yards. Be sold already.
