I know that. But TDI autos were not produced until 1992. He says it's an auto.

Even if you're just acting to broker the deal, if one of your family members buys it in their name how would that be an illegal purchase for them if you aren't listed on any of the documentation and it is eventually registered in their name?
I can get phone calls. I was at my office, almost no cell service to email photos. I would be more than happy to give someone my number through a PM.

Each state is different, but you can only buy and sell so many vehicles a year. I've never had any issues till this current one. My family lives 8 hours from me, and not sure how they would even feel about keeping something plus what about insuring? It's just easier to try and sell at this point. Nothing ever works out well when you're not doing everything on the up and up. I run a business, and don't need unneeded headaches in my day.

But yes the three doors are rare, and the blue interior. This is my favorite disco combo.

That looks a lot like an automatic shifter.

Vin is for a manual. Will not be importable as an auto.

Yikes.

What a can of worms. It was purchased from a family, second owners. I don't think they tried to mislead me, but I had no idea.

Good thing you didn't put it on a boat! In the future I would suggest you use Uncle Douglas to do the import and avoid all this.

Would this be importable to Canada?

Can't believe I overlooked that. I assumed it was only the engine, that couldn't be changed for here in the US.

Ah yes!

A friend that used to live in the area, who had an older series truck.

No wonder none of my emails worked. I don't recall using his username, but I must have.

Thanks

What US law, specifically, prevents someone from buying too many cars?

That doesn't even make sense.

If you've been flipping without a dealer license, then you really have to rethink your business model.

I have never heard of that and don't understand how in the world anyone tracks that.....especially the federal government. Unless you are somehow reporting the profits on any sale as earned income on your taxes.

Or he's not reporting the profits on any sale, which is a lot worse.

There is a limit, on how many vehicles you can buy and sell each year. Each state is different it appears through my research.

Not business related, cars are one of my only hobbies, and I have a wide variety of cars I like. So I go through them rather quickly. If I had unlimited funds, and the space I would never have to sell anything. That's not the case though.

I've made a few bucks when it comes time to sell something, and I've also lost big money. Not to mention the cost of insuring everything, and whatever money I sink into stuff it's not something that's ever net positive in the end. Cars are a poor investment, it's simply for enjoyment.

No law on how many can be purchased just a limit on how many can be sold.
