84 RHD D110 200tdi 5 door.

1984 Defender 110 200tdi with 68k miles $25,000

Last owner had the car for 7 yrs and it always garaged during ownership. A genuine 68k miles from new. We have just fitted a serviced 200tdi (full cambelt change / oil and filter / and had the injector pump reconditioned at a cost of $1,200). This Land Rover starts first time and performance is strong and impressive. The Tdi conversion is a full conversion with radiator and intercooler set up. We have also fitted a 4 bolt power steering box.

The paintwork is original paint, just polished, it looks great! No need for a re-spray. Just look at the photos - we have never seen early doors in such great condition. The chassis / under frame can only be classed the same as a 2003 vehicle - strong / no horrible welded repairs - she's very clean and been well treated along with 7yrs of being garaged has preserved this vehicle and shows in its present condition.

The Defender is in UK and being shipped Vermont for a mid February delivery. Price includes all shipping and customs charges.*

This is your chance to own a truly amazing Land Rover. *25+mpg, the ability to go anywhere. With a Land Rover Defender you can rub elbows with the natives of New England, or New Guinea! So don't miss out!

Is it typical to pay around 10k to get these rigs to the states with all the fees? Looks like a clean rig

I think you may be misinformed on what it actually costs to get a vehicle here. $2000 door to door for me.

For just shipping or all-in with import fees, customs broker, etc? Serious question as I hope to import one in the next few years and have never heard a figure that low.

I bought it from Mark in the UK Along with 4 other Defenders, and a 101. Thanks for the eBay find he was supposed to pull that downon Friday.

------ Follow up post added January 15th, 2012 10:03 AM ------

Shipping just a ruff out line. I may be forgetting a couple little things like fedexing papers back and forth.

100 to clean the car (very important cause if they find any dirt on it they can charge up to $700 to clean it the states.
300-600 to be the car to the UK ports from where ever it is in the UK
1100-1400 RORO to a US port
$1000 for a customs broker (required by law now)
$300-400 deliver the car back to Vermont

you can do it your selfs it's just a pain.

When did this law start and where can I find it in writing? Doesn't your ending statement in your post contradict that? Just curious if something changed quite recently? Thanks.

Don't you need a registered importer at some point in the process? I assumed that's what he was referring to, but I am certainly no expert.

You don't need an RI or ICI if you are importing a conforming vehicle. A 25 year old vehicle by default is conforming.

$1000 for import fees seems a bit excessive to me though. A customs house broker will charge you about $100-150 for a single-line entry and you will need to pay wharfage, terminal handling charges, harbor maintenance fees (~$100) and 2.5% in import duties.

You can do the import yourself, but the 100ish dollars you'll spend on the expertise and services that a customs house broker provides will be worth every penny!

I have shipped 110 to he west coast and it was a lot more expensive! just the roro was already $3500 and then the rest. Also what you need to remember is the storage fee. Sometimes it takes some time to clear the car and if something is wrong they just let it sit for a while. And you pay a daily fee on the storage. So a custom broker is a must and will safe you a lot of $$$ in the end. Some times they work fast some times they work slow or loose your car for a while.......

By law not you need a customes broker on any item over $1500. That why the prices have gone up.
