2004 TD5 Discovery SE7 Diesel

-US/Canada Spec Discovery with Early 10p TD5 Conversion
-Heavy duty Ashcroft torque converter
-Brand new BFG AT KM2′s
-EGR Delete
-Upgraded programmable ECU
-NanoCom Touch Screen Land Rover programmer and diagnostic system

Engine conversion is of the highest quality you wouldn’t be able to tell it wasn’t a TD5 from the factory. This was my wife’s daily driver. About a month ago she was driving and the oil light came on. She immediately pulled the truck over and had it towed home. I started doing some research and found out that all TD5′s have an issue where the bolt on the oil pump sprocket comes loose and the truck looses oil pressure. I removed the sump and sure enough that was the culprit. I installed a new oil pump sprocket and bolt with the loctite like Land Rover should have done from the factory and put it back together. The truck fired up and ran perfect. I took it for a test drive and about 1/2 mile down the road the engine quit and wouldn’t restart. I believe there must have been some damage from the initial loss of oil pressure and I must have spun a bearing or something because the motor will not turn over anymore. The motor can be overhauled pretty easy on the TD5 from what I hear or you could just buy a motor from the UK, quite a few on ebay.co.uk, drop it in over the weekend and have an amazing one of a kind truck in the US. My wife was sick of waiting on me to decide what we should do with it so she bought a new car. I would say this truck with a new motor is worth around $25k so I’m offering it up for $15k which seems like a hell of a deal. Contact me if you need any additional details. Nice truck, sorry to read about the engine failure. Your wife is bad-ass.

Shit if it's in MA it must, they have to be inspected every 2 years last I checked and they are pretty extensive IIRC

Depends on state, as of now not in NJ. This seems like a good deal and the engine is easy to work on.

I was kind of worried about that but I just registered it as a diesel and brought it to get inspection and they hooked it up to the OBD2 machine and it passed so...

It won't turn over with the starter. Haven't tried by hand yet.

Pull the glow plugs and then try turning it over.

Seriously, it will probably turn over without the glow plugs in.

You probably have hydraulic lock up, stemming from a cracked head from over heating when the oil pump died. Common issue with the 10P, especially if you overheat it.

Give it a shot.

And just an email away...

LDF500160 TD5 Cylinder Head

If you have a TD5 with a 10P, this will happen. Not a matter of if, but when... and the when is usually under 150,000KM.
