i wish - they use a "stock" pricing system - which if your under they tax you on the delta as well of what they consider "fair Market value"

Mike, I know I'm bringing this back from the grave, but did this sell?

One of my best friends is looking to buy this exact car (not sure on the color though) in the next week or so.

Thanks Mike. Looked nice especially with the two sets of wheels/tires. He's looking at the 2003's, so just figured I'd check. Anything you could think of off the top of your head for him to look out for?
I'm going to drive him out to check out a few next week it looks like. He's looking at this one. I ran a report on it and it looks like there was an accident reported from 2004 that I just found.

Thanks!

It was a great car. Like all the Audis I have had it needed a heater blower motor and the S has performance brakes so the pads and rotors don't last (but they work great). Make sure the timing belt has been done as that is a big job (3K or so) and make sure the front end is good. It gets costly fast doing all the tie rod ends and steering rack links (that it will need at about 90K miles).
I had no issues with the S6. I bought it at about 32K miles and sold it a few years later with just under 100K I think. It was coming out of warranty and I didn't want Audi S6 bills on my head without a warranty.

Much appreciated! I'll let him know. Yeah, I had an Audi before I moved to NYC...great car! Never had any problems with it, but it was under warranty for the length of my ownership, so I could understand how out of warranty could probably get expensive.

One last question: about how often did it need to go in for unscheduled maintenance?

Almost never.
The heater motor was an odd one, but we just waited and just did that with a normal service.
Nothing ever put the car out of use, but I personally would never own a car like the S6 out of warranty. I wanted to keep it but I started adding up the payment plus timing belt job, brakes, tires, front end work and all and in the end it was way cheaper to just by her the BMW Wagon she wanted (that has a warranty so that I don't have to fix it, it just goes to the dealer.)

That silver S6 has almost 90K and that is the point where they start to need parts, so make sure your friend is ready for the bills.

Great ride though, best family truckster we ever had.

Oh crap, just looked at the price 17,900 for a 03 S6???
That guy is on crack.
I sold mine for 13.5K back when and it was pulling teeth to get that.
