2002 Land Rover Discovery II Kalahari Edition

2002 Land Rover Discovery II SE
Kalahari Edition
Bonatti Grey
Smokestone Grey interior
1 of 100

156k miles
Originally sold at LR Orlando and has been registered in Florida it's whole life.

Posting this for sale as is before I perform necessary repairs on it, in turn making it cheaper for interested parties and saving me time.

It needs a few cosmetic things along with a brake booster, possible radiator, and a single window motor. If buyer wants to provide parts, I can install them for a nominal fee post-purchase. The vehicle starts, runs, and idles great. The short amount of time I have driven it, shows to be smooth and quiet. It has the rear cargo cover, both side cubbys, and original LR tool kit.

$4500 as-is, located in Orlando. I can assist with shipping or personally deliver within 500 miles or so.

Questions welcomed.

Brake booster, radiator, interior driver A-pillar trim, exterior passenger C-pillar trim, and missing cup holder have all been sorted today. Price is the same.

I'm not sure to be honest. I'm going to call the two dealers who have sold this truck to find out if they have any service records for it. I also haven't found any sign or symptom of them needing done either.

They all leak.

If you post a picture of the rear of the driver's side head I can tell you if they have probably been off. If you look under the car at the rear of the passenger side head you can see if it is leaking (which it more than likely is).

I can't get a clear shot as the converter is in the way and the valve cover gasket buildup would just be deceiving. I'd rather just assume they have not been done until I have proof they have been. I can do a compression and leakdown test if necessary.

That won't tell you anything. The cooling ports are on the ends of either head and on DII's almost exclusively leak externally. If you look at a head gasket you'll see what a mean. The head gaskets leaking cause no issues other than coolant loss. I would expect them to start leaking after 60k miles. Keep the coolant topped off and it will easily run for another 60k. Head gaskets are a maintenance item on a DII.

If the plastic cover under the engine is missing you can see the front of the cylinder heads where they meet the block. If there is a build up of gunk there, they are leaking.

I've got a coolant system tester around here somewhere. I can put some dye in the coolant and pressurize the system or just run it, check for the pretty colors haha.

Also, got the left rear turn signal today. Probably going to powder coat the brush guard, ladder, and light guards. Might order the rear bumper tomorrow.

Got the rear bumper replaced, put the light guards/ladder back on, as well as replaced the passenger corner bumper filler piece. Mother in law needs a vehicle, probably just going to give her this.
