There is only supposed to be one. Its on the left for 200tdi and on the right for 300, td5 etc.

I understand the vent layout but this truck had the 300tdi fender with a 200tdi installed.. so the fender vent was on the wrong side for the 200.... but now it has the right and left vent for whatever motor is installed or whatever snorkel one would like to use..

I actually did that on my 110 rebuild. I wanted a bit better engine cooling and the vent seemed like an idea. Not that the Diesel need more cooling but....

I think this is a good idea.. it allows for more air flow and it also opens the truck to future engine changes.. also the new style vents look great...

I would like to know about it being a 1998. I think that would be a key consideration for a future buyer since it wasn't answered earlier.

Hi,

I have owned the truck for 2 1/2 years and I am still learning of its origins...
I have learned a lot about it from this forum...
The builder of this truck contacted me and now I have a lot more info..
the truck was built using donors in 1999.. the frame was new as was the body..
how it became a 1998 is still a little bit of a mystery to me..
I was told the the vehicle may have been sold at an auction and a replacement vin was assigned..

I was advised to look for the builder and get the info from the origional donor as to title it with that vin..

in all respects the truck does have a lot of newer parts and mods but would be concidered with the drivetrain to be a 200Tdi...

I bought the truck from a Rover and 4x4 dealer a couple of years ago and I didn't know anything about it other then it had a NY replacement vin and I was told it was 100% acurate and legal..
only recently did I find out more of its history of when it was restored in the states..

this truck is a very nice 110 and I do plan on researching its origional vin or the next owner can..

Michigan researched the title and issued it without a problem..
the title says 1998 Land Rover sta wgn...

I hope this helps..

Was the car registered in NY when you purchased it or only titled there?

Was insuring the truck an issue? Which insurer do you use? Could you PM me the vin so I can call my insurer to see if coverage is possible?

Do you know how many times if any the motor has been rebuilt?

When you say there is a loss of power on hills/hwy do you mean it slows slightly or that it is severe?

Thanks again.

Are these questions unreasonable?

Sorry for the delay in response...I am happy to answer any questions ...
I have been busy and have been checking this by my phone...
the vehicle had a NY title when I bought it.. not sure about registration ..
I use state farm insurance and it was not a problem..
I don't believe the motor was rebuilt? Just head gasket and belts and hoses, water pump and other work like a rebuilt injection pump newer injectors...
The power loss seems mild... slows slightly... may just need pump timing adjustment and new filter..

The only thing that sticks out as odd to me about this beauty is that it's a 200tdi when the 300tdi was introduced in 1994 my four years before the registration date.

The truck was hand built in 99 out of a 200tdi donor and a new frame and new body....
