1997 NAS D-90 300 TDI Project

After five years of accumulating and restoring parts for my D-90, I have decided to test the water and see if any of you want to finish this project. It has been moved so far down my to-do list it will be years before I can get back to it. I bought it in 2006. It is a 1997 NAS D-90 that went through the Katrina flood. It was in Gulfport Mississippi so it has ďflood damageĒ written on the title. I have 95%+ of all the parts to finish just not the time as Iíd like to put my attention to other projects. Following is a list of major parts and what I have done to them. It was originally green but I had all the parts professionally repainted Arles blue.

Original Frame: Set up for 300 Tdi. Chemically dipped and then hot dip galvanized.
Bulkhead: Chemically dipped, powder coated, painted and rhino lined.
Cage: All pieces not covered with foam where sandblasted and powder coated.
Tub: Stripped painted and rhino lined inside.
All tub and door caps: Stripped and galvanized.
Seatbox: Chemically stripped galvanized and the top was rhino lined.
300 Tdi: Timing belt replaced, new water pump installed, new rear main seal, new clutch and pressure plate, rebuilt alternator.
Wings: Inners re-galvanize, outers repainted.
Front and rear end: Both are off a 24 spline RR and have no guts. Rollers!
Small Parts: Anything that could be blasted and powder coated was.

Title $$$??? $ -
Total of all parts,
$33,415.00 (not my asking price, but a total of what all the piecies sold separatly would be)

I think this is worth more in parts than as a whole but Iím willing to sell it a few different ways and Iím open to offers.
1. As a package, as a newly painted complete project with the 300 Tdi.
2. As a newly painted project without the 300 TDI.
3. As a project that needs paint (Iíll substitute all the matching painted parts with non-matching parts and keep the blue parts for my other project).
4. If enough people come forward Iíll split it up into parts.
5. Does any of that make sence???

Nice setup... Too bad you have to sell. I certainly understand the time issue... it took me 4 months to get my electric fans installed.

You are almost there man, see if you can have a wrenching party... I bet you can finish that in a couple of weekends with plenty of beer and pizza.

I wondered where you were with this since we last spoke. It looks awesome. Makes me want to galvanize my cappings.

You need to finish this.

Nice...definitely not many Arles Blue '97 ST's (if any actually)! Ben / Raleigh D90 was going to do this combo, too. Should be awesome when done!

Horsey how is one guy wanting to sell his 94 soft top to buy a 97 sw anything like this truck? This truck is a 5 speed soft top diesel. Well you got the color right. Guess you have your horse blinders on with your instant posting to show you know every post on the board.

You must have trouble reading. I said Arles Blue '97 ST; that's what Ben was looking to do, too. Ben and I had spoken a few times when a '94 Arles Blue ST was in the running for me.

How would anyone get that from this:

Ok, so it's been just over a year and I ended up with the Arles Blue 94 of my dreams (almost), but now I'm thinking I want one that's three years newer and would also happen to come with a hard top. So, I'm on the hunt for a reasonably priced, rust free arles blue SW. Leads on any available (or not available) Arles SW are appreciated. AC is a must and any other custom mods are likely just going to sweeten the pot. Thanks for your help ahead of the curve.

Ben

Your research skills clearly go above and beyond. Hopefully if Ben did sell his truck it went to someone who takes care of general maintenance like brake rotors and such.

Thanks, I think it could be finished with a few weeks of work as well, unfortunetly between family, work, house and other project cars it has ended up in last place. I don't mind keeping it and finishing it later but freeing up some cash to finish something else would be nice! Yes, that is a 1967 Shelby clone (project number 1)

That's quite the project. Too bad it's dropped so low on your priority list. I'm sure it would (will) be an incredible vehicle once finished. Best of luck finding the right buyer.

I'm sure there are some small parts that I'm missing but the only things I can really think of that it needs are the guages and switches, heater core, front bumper and the exhaust. Oh and time! I don't think shipping will be a problem but it may be prudent to ship all the loose parts in a crate.

This looks like a great project... I would point out for the masses if you didn't realize already that a '97 might be tough to get licensed as a diesel in many places as it's post OBDII

We did speak about it and actually still looking for the right candidate, but in the meantime did sell my Arles 94 ST to pick up another Arles 94 ST. Without saying too much however, there is one less 94 Arles ST in the world as a result of my sale. Bittersweet as I don't think there is any other color for me. Ultimately, my plan is to convert the 97 Arles to an ST. No point in turning this thread into a discussion on that idea as I know it has been thoroughly covered. So, 97 Arles ST owners (I think there are at least two - one a converted and one a repaint) I'm waiting for your call. Oh and still browsing for the right SW if it came along.

May have missed it (using forum runner) but what is the asking price?
