Technically, it was built in 1996. Originally it was Portofino Red (not Monza), which wasn't available on NAS SW's in 1995, but was in 1997. It didn't have rear seats originally, only rubber liner, so it likely started life as a soft top. The 90 was held by Safety Devices for R&D (possibly for development of the SW roll cage). It was sold into private ownership in the UK and later converted to automatic. It was imported to Canada by the UK owner and then later sold to someone who imported it to the States. All said, it is a legitimate qualifying NAS 90.

Don't ask me how I remember all of this though........
Isn't that the other one that just popped up for sale in canada?

I saw this truck at Land Rover Santa Barbara when I got my LR4. It was in on trade and resold quickly to a Defender dealer but can't think which one.

I believe all vehicles in Europe require a red, left rear light. You used to have to install said light on a car you brought over from the states to drive while in Europe for an extended period. This would make sense on this particular Defender. If it was a NAS spec vehicle, it would not have had the light. As it stayed in the UK, they added the light.

NAS = North American Specification

Your Defender has an extra red tail lamp on the right rear corner. It's mounted just below the rear door hinge and sits noticeably lower and out of line with the other two lamps. It serves as a rear fog lamp, which is required under UK regulations.
