This is in no way meant to be offensive to the company that re-furbishes these in any way whatsoever, but is it just me or does anyone else prefer how it came into this world? Looks remarkably clean underneath.

Poor kids didn't get to drive this to school for long - how long ago did you start the resto on it?

Aside from the front, really like the rest of the build. I like that green Kahn-ish one you did last year as well.

While I like the idea of original unmolested examples, I can certainly understand capitalism. I must tell you though that I find Himalaya a bit shady. They come on this website filled with enthusiasts and use deceitful tactics to acquire cars they then overhaul into garish monsters.

I feel that sellers come to this forum to sell their cars to other enthusiasts and usually price them a bit below what they might get on eBay and elsewhere.

Can't you see the puppies wagging their tails and smell the home baked pie? Meanwhile this was never intended for anyone's son or to drive to high school.

I'm in the market for a 110 or 130 Double Cab...maybe I should buy this one:

^^^ I agree 100% and that is what irritates the piss out of me! It just screams deceit! I was imagining how cool I would have been to have had a D90 when I was in high school or college. Then we see that it was never intended for that purpose, as you stated. That's what makes it a hard pill to swallow.

I understand where some people are coming from about the modifications, just not sure about the deceit.

Usually goes like this....

Member: Hey guys, selling my NAS90 for $xxxxx
Himalaya: PMed
Member: Vehicle sold

People are more than welcome to not sell to Mark, but they do because he pays them. Capitalism.

I agree Zack, that's why I tipped my hat to capitalism. But why be shady? Why say it's for your son and talk about BYU etc. I have a theory, because it lowers the seller's guard and makes him sell his truck cheaper to that nice family man. I think an enthusiast would sell his truck incrementally lower to another enthusiast than he/she would to a dealer.

Maybe I'm just being naive....

One day in the year 2030, perhaps the following ad will appear:

For sale: Himalaya Defender fully restored back to tasteful original NAS specs. $150,000

Meanwhile, someone is griping, "That guy who bought the Himalaya said it was going to be his daily driver for his son and Golden Retriever as they go around rehabbing houses for Habitat for Humanity."

And history thus repeats itself.

Screw that! I want it for my two retarded labs so we can ride around and drink beer! (with a designated driver obviously!)

Who the heck are any of you to make accusations about my integrity. Your statements themselves make claim to your own probity.
For the Record.

My 19year old son leaves BYUI next week driving home his ArlesBlue D90. 2300 miles. Good for him for wanting the adventure.
Re White D90. Deciding to use a different D90 that I origianlly planned on keeping was a business decision. After purchase of the vehicle and inspection it was decided that it was too nice to let a 17 year old drive it. So instead of letting it sit in the garage we chose to rebuild, resell.

I run a business to support several families. If you don't like what we do, then bully for you. I don't judge anyone for what they drive, or do for a living. It does nothing for me.
If it makes you feel better about yourself and you feel a bigger man for it, then thats your prerogative.

"In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."

Example of trolling: It's to bad everyone on this forum, some for lack of intelligence, cannot contribute something relevant or constructive to the conversation and thus resort to trolling. In fact most of the really interesting topics on D-90 are marred by this particular type of sad rhetoric.

Thanks for the clarification, but I'm confused as to who the troll is and what the topic on this thread is. This original for sale thread was over in September 2013 when the truck was sold. Are you referring to Josh as the troll for pointing out it's back on eBay for $146,000 (sowing discord), or me for pointing out shady behavior or others - who agree or disagree with the points being made. What "normal on-topic" discussion were we disrupting?

I feel our open discourse and even Himalaya's response are just as important and critical to the Land Rover Defender community and market as anything you might deem more so.

It makes me sad to see how the prices of these trucks are being driven up by what is going on but more power to Mark for living and breathing the capitalist dream. I can say that most of us, including myself would be doing the same exact thing if we had the ability and the space to do so.

MMC, Perhaps another example of trolling will enlighten you. Let's pretend I were to say something like, "Who or what is this Him-A-Liar and why is he so arrogant and condescending?". That would be trolling. Now scroll up, read the definition of trolling once more and make the most out of your 20th post.
