1997 Defender 90, low miles!

Hello everyone, new here, hope I'm doing this correctly. This is a fine 1997 Defender 90 (#403) with only 53,000 miles. Take a look at the pictures and info! Asking price is $85,000 or best offer

Nice looking D90 but for 85 large I think you'll have to provide better pictures of the frame and typical problem areas.
I can already see some rust on the swaybar...
Especially since it appears to be a MASS truck where there is high corrosion rate.

Ignore the rust comments. Calling out a spec of corrosion and then immediately wanting to see pictures of "typical problem areas" has been the go-to comment in the D90 FS threads for too long now.

Some people care more about the flaking of a $159.00 part and less about the mechanical condition of the vehicle as a whole.

What are you talking about?

Do you even know what to look for in a truck?

Asking for problem area pictures is the go to question because it tells you a lot. It could be a mechanically sound rusty piece of shit.

Not saying this truck is rusty and good luck with the sale.

Post is pretty self explanatory - It's my opinion that often times some buyers, or just those asking questions on a FS with no intention of buying, place too much emphasis on rust.

Yes, I know what to look for on a truck and it's usually more than just a photo of a rear cross, door sill and foot panel. That's entire point of my post.

I hate dirtying a FS sale so apologies to the OP.

I think Barry's point is valid.

When you post a vehicle for sale an a vehicle-specif forum, you need to pay close attention to the details.
Everyone here knows what a '97 SW looks like on the outside.
A perfect condition rear crossmember and lower bulkhead will impress this crowd much more than some glamor shots in the driveway...

People on here with no intention of buying ask to help out the newbie who doesn't know what to look for. These questions save the uninformed heartache.

Agreed for some of us looking for a truck the added pictures are very useful.
Seeing rust in the front inside of the engine bay would/should raise questions about the other rust prone areas on these trucks. They rust in the same places and if the seller provides pictures up front it saves everyone time.
It doesn't matter where the truck is being sold (Here, eBay, Craigslist, or a Dealer) I will ask for the same pictures of the truck to give me a better picture of it's overall condition.

What are you asking? It clearly has a land rover speedo. Euro MPH one that is used in a lot of JAP trucks. Should have a sticker or paperwork for when it was installed.

Very true

At the same time I have no problem asking for pics and glamor shots even if I have no intention of buying because they are like porn to me. Especially when the seller is asking big money.

So is this a Japanese spec truck?
Because according to LRFAQ 1997 #403 is SALDV3246VA104796 and is Coniston Green...
Just curious now.
