1997 Defender 90 Hardtop

1997 Land Rover Defender 90 Hardtop. This is a US Spec vehicle that is California licensed and smog tested. This vehicle spent its first ten years owned by a Land Rover employee at the factory. Initially it was used to demo all the new features of the 97 model. Service during this period is fully documented in the service manual by the factory.
It was then shipped to California where it has remained. There are no signs that it has been off road and there are no issues with rust on the chassis. It is one of only three 97 hardtops painted Monza red. A plaque was never assigned but a new blank one is included.
The latest version of the LR Air Conditioning was recently installed in 2014. Currently on Mobil One oil.
Currently at 52,00 miles
The VIN is SALDV3245VA993123

It comes with the following factory accessories:
Mud Flaps
Side steps
Headlight guards
AM/FM/CD LR radio
A full set of body armor (some pieces not currently installed)
Front bar
Fog Lights
European lights
Jack & tools
LR Mats

Digital Voltage Gauge
Touchup paint
Oversize battery
Factory owners, radio, and service manuals

Sound/heat insulation:
Hood
Footwells
Storage compartments

(3) Doors
Muffler
Oil lines

Vehicle has original paint which is in exceptional condition. This is very minor galvanic corrosion around a few rivets. Seats are in like new condtion. It is supplied with Michelin LTX M/S tires that are excellent for the highway with lots of life left.
The price is $48,500 More pics available.

I saw this truck before Adventure bought it. It was at Land Rover Santa Barbara. Didn't it have ROW lights too?

Ron' mileage is 52,00 miles. The new ad has 22,146. Either Ron forgot a zero or he put a comma where it doesn't belong.

it says on the add "This vehicle was first sold in England and was serviced at the Land Rover Groups Gaydon V.W.S. facility where it received a new odometer on 6/1/04 replacing the original with 33696 miles on it according to the factory service records. " but now the milage is 22,146 ????

Suggestions on how to approach negotiating for the truck? or what to offer?

Tell them you are going to rat them out to the DMV and offer them what Ron sold to it for. At this point you are trying to out sheist the sheisters.

Hi Yeats,

Perhaps my 90 would fit the bill.

It would appear to be an equivalent vehicle with no middle man trying to make a profit. I'm confident whoever buys it will be pleased. Worst case if it doesn't work out you have it State side and the value increases significantly.

Not sure what the etc. would be, but it shouldn't be an issue to import, especially if it has the emissions sticker.

I'm guessing the "etc" would be the auto trans that was never offered in a 95 here that will cause at least a little headache getting it imported. Then if it can be imported, even more of a headache trying to get it titled in California.
