1997 AA Yellow Defender 90

I am selling my 1997 Defender 90 and seeing if their is any interest on this site. I guess I really wanted a price gauge to see what a truck like mine would go for so any suggestions or bids would be great. I will post pictures soon.

It is a garage kept D90 with 60,000 miles on it. I am the second owner and have owned it since 2000. I have added Old Man Emu suspension and 33 inch BFG Mud Terrains with about 11,000 miles on them. The wheels are black steel American Racing. I have a Land Rover Front Brush guard with two Hella 3000s. I also added a Borla Exhaust 2 years ago to replace the original one. I also have axle guards on the underbody. I have a full soft top and a bimini top along with running bars that can be put on. I also added four premium speakers, an amplifier and a reciever with Sirius Satellite Radio. Overall, the body is in good shape with only a few bits of rust on the underbody, most of which have been treated at the dealership.

I am just testing the waters now for my truck and would appreciate any input.

Thanks.
Jeremy

You really should post pictures for anyone to consider this sale. Words are one thing, pictures are a good thing!

Good Luck!
Dan

Maybe float it out there at $35k. I would also put the stock wheels back on to appeal to the widest range of buyers. AA yellow with the automatic is a very desirable combination so it shouldn't be hard to sell if it's priced fairly.

Agreed, but $35k sounds pretty high. I would probably ask about $30k and be willing to negotiate.

Depends on the corrosion. If someone who is from Arizona looked at it and said...

"That looks good...like it spent it's life in a nice dry climate" then $35K.

When I bought a truck once from Ohio and the previous owners words were "Not bad at all" to my question regarding rust he didn't realize that there would be a different definition of "not bad at all" between a guy from Ohio and a guy from Texas.

Somewhere very close to $30K I would think would be a quick selling price. I agree - '97, Auto, AA Yellow will get you a buyer pretty fast.

Pictures

If you would like pictures of the Defender 90 for sale, please email me at keithjd@wharton.upenn.edu. The files I have are too large to upload to the site. Again, it has just under 60,000 miles and included a one-year old Rovers North soft top and bimini top (both in perfect condition). I only drive this car in the summer so I have only used the Rovers North top twice ever and it was only on for summer rain showers so it is essentially brand new. The bimini top is also in perfect condition.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like to make an offer.

Thanks
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy. The truck looks good. I'm not in the market, but I'd suggest 2 things.

1. Take some pictures of the undercarriage and the bottoms of the doors (essentially anywhere you'd usually see rust issues)

2. Those front bumpers are available very cheap used. I'd replace it with a straight one to have no apologies.

You can get $30k from Copley or one of the other defender specialists in a hearbeat. Listing it at $30k and "willing to negotiate" will result in an outstanding bargin for the buyer assuming the condition is as listed.

Well, IMO for $35 it should be really clean. The pictures show bubbling in the paint in a few areas, a bent bumper, rust on the tire carrier etc. It is still a nice rig, and I hope you don't take some constructive criticism the wrong way, but it doesn't present like a Copley vehicle does. Every Copley vehicle I have seen is remarkably clean, which is why they are able to sell them at the premium prices they ask for them.

I realize it is not a Copley vehicle as it is right now so I am not charging that premium. My price range is around 33,500. Thank you for all of your comments and help.

Let me know via email or PM if you'd like to make an offer.

Thanks.
Jeremy

Agreed, should sell in the high 20s.

To get top dollar put on stock wheels and an unbent bumper. Also touch up the rust on the rear cross member.
