copley, don't get me wrong. if you can sell that truck for that money and have a happy customer, more power to you. the "sucker" comment is directed at the guy who bought it without doing any market research or looking around, not you as a seller.

well here in Germany on ebay are used stuff regulary more expensive then new.
Once i bought lens supposed to be old AF-D version for 400Eur, it turned out it is new AF-S so with turn of the hand i sold it for 1200Eur (new was at that time 990Eur)
and that truck? It would be worth a lot here... Just in US the cars are so damn cheap :-)

Damn, Myles, you disappear for a decade and come out swingin'. What are you up to, other than trying to win friends and influence people?

Had to look that up. In defence of the truth, the individual in question is a stand up bloke that is personal friends with many of us on this list, and is a respected member of the community.

So what has transpired since the end of the Owl's Head meets? Care to fill us in on the latest details of Land Rover according to Myles? There are few on this board that go back far enough to remember you.

i spent a number of years in maine doing various house sitting jobs and in recent years have returned home. you know that i will not regurgitate my existence onto the internet for all to consume. i still like to retain my privacy due to the nature of my work. i see you are driving one of those defenders now, so much for your series vehicle admiration. i don't remember you, but no matter, good to chat with you.

apparently in your absence from the internet world, and rovers, you have missed the internet invention of sarcasm, and the fact that most of us are friends. which means it was a joke, but if you want to resort to name calling we could go to Pirate or dweb and fit right in.
I will consider it a slight that you meant in good fun, not in an intereweb meanie tone.

ah, sarcasm. i must claim i did not see it. in most cases there is some wit or irony in a sacrastic statement that grants the reader the ability to follow along. if next time you employ some perhaps others will be able to comprehend your intended meaning.
