Considered by many to be the best variant of the original Range Rover, I've decided to part company with my recently refurbished Short Wheelbase '95 Classic.
Extensive recent renovation/refurbishment within the last 500 miles including:
- New headliner
- Newly reupholstered front seats
- Freshly detailed including three-stage polishing and waxing, interior cleaning
- New Terrafirma suspension including coil springs and shocks
- New exhaust system
- New oxygen sensors
- New rear liftgate struts
- Seat switches disassembled, cleaned and lubricated (common problem area)
- Seat ECU repaired with new lithium ion battery (common issue that causes seats not to work)
- New power steering pump and PS hoses
- New lower radiator hose and coolant
- New fog lamps
- New plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor
- Numerous other minor issues addressed
- Recent tires and brakes
The truck is in great condition for its age but not without some minor paint and body blemishes (which is to be expected for its age.) No rust underneath or on the rear hatch as is a common issue. I believe the truck has spent its entire (or at least the majority) of its life here in the south.
Runs very well and the compression checks-out at between 150-160psi on all cylinders. Just had it serviced at the local independent LR service center (Ed's Rover Service) to sort a misfire and they gave it a once-over to check it out. There is an engine tapping when hot which was diagnosed as the "cam button" hitting the front cover which, according to the tech, was a common yet harmless issue with the '95's. I also had the the SRS light reset but it is now on again (tech says it's an issue with the ECU.)
Everything works except the cruise control (which I have not had time to diagnose) and I have spent a lot of time and effort sorting-out a lot of the common electrical gremlins like the seat/mirror ECU and power window ECU. The truck could use a new rear bumper, since it was hit at some point prior to my ownership. I've been looking for a nice used one but so far no luck (just not quite ready to part with $400 for a new one.)
Just remembered it also needs new covers for the front door speakers. Passenger side is okay but driver side it pretty well shot. These are rare as hen's teeth and I have had no luck finding any. It would not be too hard to fabricate new covers or have a car audio shop do it but I have not had the time to get to this.
Which brings me to the reason for selling- I have enjoyed refurbishing this truck but have too many other vehicles to tend to (the Defender, 911 and a bunch of motorcycles) and other projects and too little time so I would like to pass this along to a new caretaker.
Looking to get $6,500.
