I'm not seeing the same vehicle. Yeah, I see Congleton's new replacement tailgate tabs, and the same seat belt blemish, same vin and plate, but that paint? Wtf! And who would pull the lights for paint prep but not open the doors? Is it really the same truck??? Load space carpet seam was solid before. Something is amiss.

this is going to get interesting. the paint lines were terrible too. So what is the leading theory? Someone took some of the photos from Congleton and meshed with pics of their truck and trying to fake their way to a payday? Have the guys from Congleton responded?

Wow...glad I didn't drop that much coin on that.

I wonder if there will ever be a market for fully restored RRC's?

I hope so, I am in the process of rebuilding mine as a high quality daily driver. Hopefully it will be worth at least 70% of what I put into it.

That paint lines below the trunk side windows look as if half the gasket tore off and the remainder was caulked in an attempt to match. Shoddy.

Thought about that, too. Too easily swapped out to be pointed out as a discrepancy, but definitely adds to the suspicion. Congleton's had said that a second set of TWR alloys were requested in addition the the black ones, not these stock cyclones.

True...but those quarter window gaskets have been NLA/unobtanium for quite some time.
The only thing you can do is caulk the gap.

Hard to say. A fully restored Defender is over 100k, and you can get all the parts for them. RRCs are a hard sell. You can't get almost anything for them, even simple things like door and window seals.

I've seen a ton of classics, this was the 2nd nicest I've seen, and it's still being torn apart. I know for certain Taylor didn't "make hay" on it, rust free 95s are over $10k in most any tt condition, and he had to buy it first. He did a ton of work, and honestly you cant take a classic apart to paint, you can't even get the hood decals to replace.. I don't know what happened between when I saw it and now, but the truck was in much nicer shape then.

A photographer's play on lighting and/or post editing can work magic. The buyer got snookered. Great the current photos show the true condition.

Yeah it was me playing with the earth's lighting that day. I made it cloudy for the photos.

This goes to show you can't buy sight unseen. Cars looks great in photos and up close not so much. I went to Barrett Jackson here in Vegas after watching some of the cars cross the line. In person they didn't look near as good as under the lights and on TV.

at least they were up front about the issues, somewhat. Never trust a Classic with shiny paint

Mine is very trustworthy!

I don't see how the seller can point out all those discrepancies and still hope to get 31k.

I have no dog in this, but after actually looking, meaning laying eyes on, more classics in past 4 months than probably anyone on here, I have to say a buyer must do their due diligence and look a vehicle over or have someone you trust do that for you.

Maybe the guy that did the work on this classic didn't "make hay", but the pictures tell a different story in a short 5 months and this truck to me is sure as hell not worth thirty thousand dollars, from the pics. But hey I am not interested in it either, and there is an ass for every seat that say.

I am not afraid to call it like it is, and this appears to be straight up bullshit. You may ask, why do I care? Because I once was a noob to Rovers and cars in general, and those are the guys that get burned the worst via glossy pics.

There are some bullshitters all over the place here lately with for sale ads. I am not going to call anyone out, but there are quite a few trucks for sale right now that you must see in person before buying, or you are the fool, period.

That said I have had some GREAT interactions and transactions with guys on this board, and I feel most are of that same caliber. Trustworthy and 100% transparent.

Zach this is nothing personal against you, but you have to see where this is shady. If saying this jeopardizes a discount at RN, then I have no problem paying retail, I just think it aught to be called as it is.
