1995 Discovery 300tdi diesel conversion

Originally came with 5speed so the conversion is very clean and stock looking. Engine and all the parts needed came from a UK wrecking yard from the same year and model. Everything about the conversion was done well and all the bugs were worked out, with the exception of the A/C never being charged. I have used it as a daily driver but could use a truck more so. 139k miles on the body and I was told on the drive train. It does have a couple of issues; one crack in the glass on the passenger side, abs & airbag lights were on before conversion and is "notchy" going into reverse, but shifts very well in forward gears. Also installed new springs and billstien shock, giving about 1+" of lift, new tires- one size over stock, double size radiator, larger intercooler, 2 1/2 exhaust with a straight through flowmaster that is very quiet, new steering box & pump, water pump, alternator, heavy duty clutch and fuel injectors. The coolest thing is that there is no ecu and the check engine light is wired to be the glow plug light! If it stays in CA it will need to be taken the smog referee, but they are usually cool if you show up on Biodiesel (which it runs very well on). No major leaks. Cruises at interstate speeds fine. I get about 24 mpg on back roads on B100 (about double the v8). Parts available from rovers north and few other suppliers in the US. Seats 7. I have service manual spare transfer case and transmission. Interior is in good shape and all the doors and windows work fine. Tan Leather and has two sunroofs. Trade considered only for Toyota 4x4 PU or similar suitable for ranch work plus cash. Please send me your phone # if serious. e-mail- portercreek@gmail.com

I just bought a 1999 Disco1.
This would have been ideal.

I have a had a really good response from you board here. I alot of people have asked for more pics (see above Post) and more details. The rig is 98% rust free as it has always been on the west coast. There is normal dampness here and there on the motor but no leaks. Just smallest traces of drop can be found when parked on clean surface. The motor has some rust as it came from the UK. It has a some smoke on a cold start, which is common for the 300tdi. Zero blow by. I would prefer to sell to either an out of state buyer or a CA resident who is will to deal with the DMV for the smog issue. My wife drives it easily and can it is great for any type of use from trail to family use.

It's a mechanical diesel. CA smog shouldn't be a big deal. Just start running biodiesel before you go to get it tested.

registered as a diesel!

I got through the dmv in about a half hour. They were a bit confused, so I just talked up the biodiesel and they pushed it through.
