Call Copley? Really? I don't get it, one minute people are up in arms about a dealer flipping for profit and the next there's encouragement to do so.

GLWTS. Amazing opportunity for someone to have an experience that can not be replicated.

I apologize. I can see you taking it that way, but that was not what I intended. I meant that he should call Copley so as to realize what a truck like this should sell for. From his minimal description, and the one photo, an 11,000 mile truck like his could be a concourse vehicle. It doesn't need a row restoration to become a beastly bespoke defender.

As a side, I hadn't, and wouldn't, complain about people making a profit flipping trucks. I'm an invisible hand free market guy, and only would disapprove of people flipping trucks under false pretenses.

Gorgeous truck! GLWTS

Not intended if you are referring to me. I meant it as praise! ;-)

Mileage

What a great truck! Probably priced about right.

I have a dilemma in how I view low mileage Defenders. What happens if I buy this truck and love to drive it. I put a reasonable amount of miles a year on it (say 6,000) and after 8 years decide to sell. It's now a 60,000 mi truck, is it still worth 70 grand? We've all seen the Monza red '97 with 50 miles. It sold for 6 figures. What's it worth with 5K mi? 15K?

As long as a truck is bone stock it seems silly to have such a tiered pricing structure between 100K+ trucks, 50K trucks, and then the 'super originals' with anywhere from 50 miles to 20K miles. They command significant premiums that seem to erode with mileage. It's a shame that to own a super original truck is to concede the driving experience.

How many vehicles are you putting 60k miles o over 8 years and expecting to break even on?

I'd like to think that if I bought a stock NAS '97 with 80K mi for say $38K that I could break-even 8 years later (+60k mi) if I maintained it. No?

Sorry to hog up this listing. Great truck. GLWS

We discussed the scenario quite a bit over here if you'd like to continue it.

If you can afford $70k for a low mileage museum piece, you can ALSO afford $20-25k for a beater driver!
