For those who care....the winning bid on this truck was $45K so with the buyer's premium it sold for $47,250.

Well it didn't take long for the flip. Here it is listed as "under transit". VIN number matches mine:

1995 Land Rover Defender

Good for you guys that are holding on, value keeps on going up.

45k is strong money to pay for a 95 wagon with higher miles to try and flip.

Curious how it goes, not that we will know what it sells again for.

approx half the miles...more desirable color and its a soft top listed at $59k...

1995 Land Rover Defneder 90 convertible | Copley Motorcars

I think your "flipper" is dreaming. Maybe if it was a 97 but even then $65k for an SW with those miles is a tall order. You did pretty well at $47k all things considered.

I bet someone in S Cal pays close to asking. A 2500 sq ft house commands a large premium, I guess it all just rolls into the cost of living SoCal factor.

Truth. Our Southern CA home is nothing special builders grade. Just over 1000 sq. feet and worth just under 1 million. Insane.

I don't get your comment. Because it's expensive to live in Socal someone would buy it?

Then what about NY, SF, HI, etc, etc?

Just because people have money doesn't mean they will buy shit.

Great line a person gave me - You don't get rich by writing checks.

Everyone knows a white SW is FAR more desirable than a black ST - quit being crazy.

The truck appears to be acquired by a SoCal dealer, so that was the frame of reference for that. If it were on Long Island or Palm Beach dealer, likely same situation, poised to a broader, wealthier customer base. Would somebody in Aurburn, AL pay 65k? Sure. But more likely in SoCal where spending more is more common.

Why wouldn't someone in L.A. pay 65k? They pay premium for housing, real estate, ect. My point is I'm sure there is a better chance fetching the asking there than Greensboro, NC. Simply a greater population of wealthy folks, OR population that is used to paying more for less.

Hell if I ever sell my D90 I'm sure gonna market it in one of these places.

With the internet and reliable shipping it barely matters where you are.
I know of a great G4 D2 heading from Boston to Tx.

Depends on who comes up with the cash.

yeah ... and buying expensive property generally just means you have a big mortgage and big costs ... doesn't make you rich ... in fact makes you cash poor!
