1995 D-90 for sale

Unfortunately, this was a quick ownership for me. I just bought this rig 3 or so months ago after a long long search, and well, my wife hates it. She doesn't feel that it is safe enough for our 6 year old son to ride in it. I have explained about the full roll cage, and the fact that he only rides with me for short trips at low speeds, and that really how safe are you in any vehicle anymore? But it has taken away a lot of my enjoyment of the vehicle, and become a battle not worth fighting.

Anyhow, it is a 1995 D-90, 115,000 miles, Conniston green. It has a Badger top plus a bimini top. I installed the stainless steel oil lines from Trailhead, and replaced a leaky front hub seal and installed a new steering stabilizer. I also had ordered Rovertym 2" lift springs with OMU shocks which just showed up yesterday. They will be installed as well. The truck also has a/c, newer tires, CD player, and rear bench seat. I also have a brand new Noah cover for it, and we just changed all the fluids.

The rig itself is in great shape. It is originally from California, so rust is not an issue. The transmission and engine are in great shape. It shifts smoothly, and actually drives really nicely. Exterior shines like new after a couple coats of wax. There is a small dent on the front passenger side of the hood, and there are some small marks in the paint here and there. The interior looks great. There are weatherproof seat covers on the seats, but the seats are in good shape. It has the Land Rover mats front and rear. I pulled out the original rubber matts that were glued down in the front foot wells as they were decayed and stinky.

This truck really should need nothing but someone to enjoy it. I have it listed at $21,900 on the local Craigslist, but would sell it on the board for $20,000. This would definitely be my lowest price. Any questions, please let me know. I am not happy about the sale, but peace in the family is more important. Thanks.

Bummer, but look at the warning lights before you sell - is the "Change Wife" light illuminated?

Nice truck, good price- and if the 'change wife' light is on, he'll really take a bath on it :-( since she'll associate the 90 as 'cause'. Not being critical, or presumptious, but new 90 in 12/93, change wife light on & gone 1/94 and she hated the 90 :-)

thankfully my wife puts up with my car "issue" and my daughter loves the 90 and the 964 (neither are what i would consider modern safe cars) but then she saw me through a bad "off" at the track in the 964 and won't let me sell it now since it saved me, at a huge rebuild cost which was not balked at.
the 90 is not a normal car but if thats an issue by a beater honda for when your son rides with you.

my 356 is off limits for my daugher jsut b/c of the seat belt situation in it (low back seats and long runs which i don't think will support a booster seat) when my daugher is old enough to ride w/o a booster she's all good in the 59'

i have a recaro in the 90' for her in the back.

Hahaha..."change wife" warning light.... no, that light is just flickering, has been for the past 12 years. Actually, my wife is very understanding with my car issues, but when it involves our children the story becomes different. She is very protective. I don't agree with her on the issue of the 90, but again, if mamma ain't happy no one is happy!

Also, I have had a lot of trade offers. The 90 was my weekend toy, so I am really not looking to replace it with an HSE, Disco, Tahoe, etc. As crazy as it sounds, my wife has no issues with an M3 so I will most likely pick up another one of those. Thanks.

Actually your wife is probably right. There is no way your 90 is as safe as a modern LR, like an LR3 or Sport.
Why don't you buy a used LR3 and trick it out with all the off road goodies. Looks cool and will go anywhere the D90 will go off road. But much safer and more comfortable. This way the wife is happy and you still get to have a Land Rover.

funny - i was deciding between an e92 M3 and a 95 Defender - the defender won.
(i guess i have no use for A/C, speed, leather, or any of that pansy stuff -> none of my cars have any of that stuff (definitly not the porsches )
Good luck with the sale.

you could always do what i do and price it high and just wait forever - eventually somebody will bite but in the mean time, no worries on the home front.... Hey its for sale right
(actually i think all my cars are for sale at any given time...just don't ask the prices of the 964 or the 356..they are high market correct)

if you dont have have forward facing rear seats, i can see where she has a point. but the fact that she doesnt have an issue with an m3 convertible, tells me the issue isnt exactly sacrificing safety... its more like what shes willing to sacrifice safety for...
