1995 Black D-90 for sale

1995 Black D-90 Soft top for sale #2150. It has 108K miles asking $39,000.

Truck comes with original soft top in ok condition(never used as long as I have owned the truck), Bikini top in almost brand new conditon, Badger drop Curtain in excellent condition, gives it a unique soft top pickup truck look or is handy in cold weather. Exterior is in great shape especially for being almost 20 years old, zero rust anywhere. It lived the majority of its life in So Cal and has been on the east coast the last 3 years, always garage kept. Previous owner did some improvements, biggest being adding the Stock AC, added cruise control, replaced door seals, dynamat in doors and various other work I have documentation on.

Most recently I have completely renovated the interior: Line X the entire interior, redid the seats, custom sound system with hidden amp, Sub and redone speaker boxes to all look completely stock. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer looking interior on a D-90 and my intention was to keep the look in line with "original." The engine is in great conditon and any work has been done by myself or local Brittish Performance Mechanic. Also has 5 BFG tires with under a 1000 miles on them.

Not interested in low ball offers, simply looking to free up some cash for a 110 to start as my next project. I enjoy renovating things more than anything else.
Asking $39,000

Call Nate at (321)960-9760
Will work on pics tonight or feel free to text me and I will send them to you directly

Looking forward to seeing how this looks after the interior work. From the pictures on Adventure Motorcars it was already in pretty decent shape. It must be sweet now. Glad to see appreciation in value.

Heres a few of the interior I took just now. Ill look for some other exterior pics seeing the Adventure Motor Cars pics are a few years old and dont have the brush guard or new BFG tires, other than that the exterior photos there are multiple and accurate

The speaker boxes were custom made and sprayed to match the rest of the interior (trying to keep the look as stock as possible). The coating is Line X but we did a few things different than the regular truck bed, it has more of a shine too it so its easier for cleaning and the entire interior is textured except for the Land Roverl we put on the floor, usually cover by the bench seat. The coating come up over the top where the soft top would tuck in, if you had it on, so you wont have to worry about any paint wear.

As for the sound, the amp is under the passenger seat and you can see the pic of the subwoofer box being built so i could hide it in the tuffy box(still has plenty of room in there being 3-4 inches deep now instead) All speakers are JBL and are very very loud, you will have no problem listening to your music crystal clear while driving 70mph if you so choose.

Very very nice. I love seeing these LRs being kept in such desirable conditions.

I see you are in Melbourne. I used to live there for a couple of years. Great vehicle to run down to the beach with.

Congrats on the beautiful work & GLWS!

Thanks, Ive had it for about a year and a half and have never had the top on it! Only reason I put the bimini top on it was to hide from the sun a little. I take it to work a few times a month and to and from the gym several times a week. I love the soft top and can't believe I'm selling it but I hope someone else falls as in love with these vehicles as much as I have.

Here is Stephens original posting from a few years ago, as you can see prior to him it was a one car owner for 16 years.

Welcome to AdventureMotorCars online listing. You are viewing a Beluga Black 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 Soft Top. This one of only 1,190 Soft Tops made in 1995 for the North American market. This is a nice, clean, well-optioned Defender 90 that runs and drives as good as it looks. The CARFAX report confirms that this was a Southern California, One-Owner vehicle with no accidents. Options include; 3.9L V-8 Engine, R380 5-Speed transmission, Land Rover soft top and windows, Land Rover window bag, Land Rover Side Running Steps, BF Goodrich Radial All Terrain T/A 265/75/R16 Tires, 16" Factory Alloy Wheels, (4) passenger Vinyl seating, Land Rover AM/ FM/ WB/ tape player stereo system, (4) Land Rover Weatherproof Speakers, and more! The exterior is in good condition. The only exterior apologies are a few minor imperfections typical of a sixteen-year-old vehicle (see pics). As with most all Beluga Black Defenders, there are a few dull spots in the paint. The wheels look good and the tires have at least 30% remaining. The soft top is nice (only two small tears- see pics), and the windows look fine. The interior is in good condition. All seats look good (there are three flaws in the front seats- see pics) and the car has a nice smell and appears to have been a non-smoking vehicle. The front and rear Land Rover rubber matting looks great. This Defender drives very well thanks to the complete engine rebuild that we just had performed. The transmission shifts well through all gears. **NOTE IF THIS IS NOT THE DEFENDER YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, WE HAVE SEVERAL OTHER DEFENDERS IN STOCK** Please call me should you have any questions at 205-821-2497.

Here is Butches listing after he bought it from Stephen. Butch bought it to be a project with his boys and I bought it from Butch to be a project for myself.

The story:
Truck spent its entire life in southern California for one owner, until 2010. Absolutely NO RUST. In 2010, the truck was purchased by Adventure Motor Cars in Birmingham, Alabama. The engine was totally rebuilt including: new bearings, new rings, new pistons, new gaskets, new distributor cap, new plugs and plug wires, new oil pump, new oil cooler lines, new starter, new water pump, new hoses, new thermostat, new radiator, new rubber engine mounts, etc. The hood, front wings, cowl, grill were repainted. Stephen deals in nothing but Land Rovers (predominantly Defenders) and the shops he used for engine and paint do a lot of work on Defenders and the work was done properly with the correct parts and techniques. When I bought the truck in April 2011, it was 95% of the way to perfect. In the subsequent months, I took it the rest of the way. The biggest (most expensive) upgrade I did was adding air conditioning. It was the $3,000 Rovers North latest and greatest air conditioning system. It blows very cold and handles the hottest of days with ease. For winter driving, I added a new Badger drop curtain. It seals off the cab totally and will cook you with heat on. The curtain was used for three months and is like brand new. I also added a front brush guard that was powder coated to match the flat black trim pieces exactly. I added an Audiovox CCS-100 cruise control that works perfectly. Other new items added include: new wx stripping everywhere, Garrison Outfitters window channel for both driver and passenger windows (totally eliminated window rattles over bumps), replaced stereo with Kenwood KDC348 receiver/CD player/iPod and USB inputs, Tuffy 017-01 lockable Stereo Console, recovery D-rings front and rear, seat risers, new driver side door card from Rovers North, stainless quick nuts for dood/window, dynamat interior of doors (really reduced door rattle, outside noise and made a big difference in the solid sound when closing the doors), new heavy duty lug wrench (the factory one was sure to break the first time you need it out in the middle of nowhere), new radio antenna and cable, new stepper motor (idle air control valve), new heavy duty alternator from Will Tillery (120 amp??), NAS D90 service/parts DVD and numerous other smaller items.
Known flaws: seats have some wear including tiny hole in one and cracked/split top on one near where your shoulder sits, couple of tiny (I dare you to try and find them) scratches on the door/side, small tear on the soft top at the very front (you can only see it if you are 6’10” or standing on a ladder) and one flap on the back edge of the top has a one inch tear. Looks to me that the southern California owner had the top off most of the time because it is in great shape for its age. A bearing on the new alternator “squeaks” a little bit. Some wouldn’t notice it, but I do. I tried to adjust the belt tension to eliminate the noise, but couldn’t eliminate it. The 2nd gear synchro is a bit balky when stone cold, but after warm-up it is hardly noticed. Double clutching when cold allows fine 1-2 gear changes.
The truck runs absolutely perfectly, save the few minor details mentioned above. I have spent the past 18 months fully sorting through every issue I could think of. I have put 10,000 miles on it. I would not hesitate to take off on an around-the-world trip tomorrow. This truck was bought as a “project” for me and my twin 16 year-old boys. We achieved exactly what I wanted – tons of time together. Now it is time to move on to something else. I would love to sell it to someone on the site, and will have it listed here exclusively for a couple of weeks. If it doesn’t sell here, I’ll have to deal with ROW on Craig’s List, Auto Trader, etc., which I don’t look forward to.
My email is butch@southprintinc.com and cell is 276-252-6200 I will also make it a point to check in here regularly to answer private messages, but I encourage email or cell.
Thanks,
Butch

Now I have owned it for 15 months and spent the first 3 months I owned it restoring the interior. I replaced all the engine belts right away because the squeaking bothered me as much as it bothered Butch. The drivers seat was reupholstered because it showed some wear. This defender is awesome now from top to bottom inside and out, I thought about fixing the 2 or 3 dents/scratches and painting or wrapping it matte black but this one just seems too nice already to do that type of exterior renovation to. I'm looking for a 110 or 90 even that needs a lot of work so I can start over again. This defender has likely never been a daily driver averaging 5400 miles/year, always garage kept and always owned by people that worked on it as much or more than they drove it.

Hope this helps,
Nate
