There was one very similar to this one in Aspen a while ago. IIRC it had the fiberglass top too, was being sold by a board member at one time. I'll deliver it for you the end of the month as I'll be in Aspen

Additional Pictures

Correction on the exhasut...its a NRP not a Borla (the Borla is on my SW) VIN: SALDV2286SA968823.

Engine and drivetrain is a 10 of 10, the inside and pant are more like a 8 of 10 because the paint has some scratches and small dents.

Thanks

Thanks for sending the pics and info via email. VERY sorry to say that I'm going to have to pass on this. If it were Arles I'd probably be looking for a new wife. If the drivetrain is truly a 10 of a 10 this sucker needs a good home. Very reasonable price considering all of the goodies!

Horsey, if you don't jump on this soon, it's gonna be gone...looks like there is a lot of interest, as there should be.

Paul asked me to say something about this D90, as I had checked it out a few months ago. I have no affiliation with him, other than meeting him to check out his car. He asked me to mention some things about it not knowing if they'd be positive or negative- or the reason why I passed on it...which was a bit of a risk- but it says a bit about his integrity and confidence in his ride. Here goes:

I saw this D90 a few months ago and spent some time around, behind & underneath it. The head gaskets are not leaking and the engine compartment was very clean. It has the typical rear main weep- but even that is minor. Front crankshaft oil seal was dry. I took it for a drive around the block and it ran well, did not have any shimmy, squeaks, clutch slippage, pulsating brakes, etc- it seems just as described. The power steering line had some fluid on it- we narrowed it down a loose hose clamp as the source and tightened it. Paul had a huge stack of receipts which would make it very easy to track its' history, mileage, etc. He stated that it had a clean CarFax- I didn't check this. If I remember correctly he's had some recent service done (brakes or some sort of maintenance). The reason why I passed is I was looking for an Arles Blue trailer queen, which I was luckily able to find...but it was tempting as I felt confident that this D90 needed very little to nothing mechanically and I got good vibes from the owner. It does have a few dents and scratches, which Paul has pointed out in his post- and I would think he will/would go over with prospective buyers should they see it in person. He purchased new doors as the originals were dented more than the wings/tub- and had them painted by a well-respected local body shop; they are a good match. Unless something has changed since I saw it he still has the original doors in his garage for prospective buyers to see. One issue with the doors is the body shop was unaware that they were supposed to have tabs welded to them for the use of the door limiting rods, so they are missing. If one were really anal they could most likely have a shop grind the tabs off of the old doors and weld them onto the new doors. The doors are also missing the plastic cards- so you might want to get some replica's (like Gustavo did) or find some used ones if interior door panels are your thing. It looks like the Rover originally had a Safari Devices roof rack on top as it has the holes in the rear body cappings where it was once mounted- and there are a slew of waterproof toggle switches mounted on the dash (tastefully done) for lights, etc. There are too many switches for just one set mounted to the ARB- so I'm deducing that it had lights mounted on the rack (and I think I remember seeing a receipt for the rack, lights, etc. in the stack of receipts).

Overall, I think this is a great D90- and I may very well have purchased it, knowing what I know now. It has a slew of upgrades already installed but the original car is still there underneath; all bolt-on mods. The nice thing is it has no rust that I was able to see, so one could make it into anything they wanted- trailer queen or fun wheeling rig. This was the second D90 I had seen in person & I don't think I was ready to buy when I saw it; I have learned a lot about what to look for since then. I consider myself a semi decent judge of character. I make no promises but in my assessment I characterized Paul as a nice, honest guy looking to fund another D90 project, not unload a lemon. Just to reiterate- I have no affiliation with Paul- nor do I have anything to gain in talking up his ride.

That's awesome for you! Congrats to the new owner, it's a good truck.

You need to start a write up on your SW project if you haven't. I'd love to see it as it comes along.
