1994 Defender 90, 18K miles, rare POE model

1994 Defender 90
“Point of Entry (POE)” hard top. Rare as only 65 were built. See link to history of POE model: Defender 90s

17,900 miles
5 speed manual
Standard OEM features with the exception of battery cut off and Alpine stereo with iPhone4 style auxiliary input

Asking price: $69,000

I bought the Defender in March of 2014 through East Coast Rovers. I have been a customer of ECR as I had a Series III refurbished. I had been looking for a clean, low mileage Defender for a while. Mike at ECR contacted me about this vehicle. It was a weekend truck with only 15,000 miles, great plumbing and well maintained. ECR performed routine maintenance and Waxoyl’ed the undercarriage as I intneded to use it in VT. The truck has been in the NY area and garage kept since I have owned it. All mechanicals are operating great. Have only had to perform routine maintenance.

Only two material blemishes beyond the normal wear and tear. Previous owner backed up into something resulting in indentation of left rear quarter panel behind the wheel and skin damage around rear left light. I intended to have ECR repair it but perfection comes at too high a price sometimes. I make it sound worse than it is. Also, a small impression on the right front quarter panel in front of the wheel. Only noticeable if the light hits it just so. Even more minor.

Sampling of pictures. I have about 95 in total. Will provide a link to a web based photo site if I can find one that doesn't screw up the order of the pictures in the iPhoto album......

I don't think 94s command that much of a premium... I think it will sell fairly close to that number though. GLWS, very cool truck!

There's a red 95 ST on EBay with 15k miles asking $120k. Not saying the dealer is going to actually get $120k, but makes this look like a steal. GLWS!!

Can we reflect on how awesome it is that something like this even exists?

Are the split rear door setups readily available?
I was just wondering weather or not there was another option for the rear door.

Not missing anything. Its a great truck. Interest has already been expressed. If someone wants to pay more to lock it down, great. I thought the price was fair based on a number of factors - manual, not soft top, no A/C and desire to move reasonably quickly. That said, if it doesn't get interest at this price I will keep it as I don't see values coming down especially for low mileage Defenders. Plus my Labrador Retriever will still respect me if I keep it.

I owned a POE for just under 5 years and used is daily. Miss the door configurations and the simple interior finish over the SW's.

No idea what the basis of this statement means. This is the rarest 94 model (POE) and it has insanely low miles. Plus knowing ECR has been through it adds incremental value. In 20 years when much more of these trucks are gone, one off factory models will continue to collect the premium. Next will be ST, then SW. I feel this is priced very fair considering.

This one I believe is my parents old neighbors. He had it listed for $79000.00 I believe and it was perfect. So it looks like a dealer is trying to flip it for 40k

The basis was that the 94s don't bring the same money as a 97 ST... The ones I see don't bring the same money as even 95s. It's not hard dude.

As time goes on its not going to make much difference. A 97 only brings premium to someone that wants auto. An 94 or 95 Arles or Beluga 94 ST will always have a premium just like a POE. Plus a rust bucket 97 won't be of any advantage over a 94,95 rust free truck.

OP GLWS!

I still find it amazing that no matter how clean a truck is people still find a way to defecate on a for sale thread.

A POE 90 was always my wet dream. Nothing this nice ever came up while I was looking. Certainly didn't mean anything negative. Just got accustomed to seeing $100k + prices on so-so trucks. I hope you get every penny. Makes all the other stock nicer ones go up as well!

I really wasn't trying to defecate on the thread, it's a great truck at a fair price. Sorry.

It was a generalized comment not directed and a specific individual.

I too have a 94 POE truck. It lacks the NAS interior roll bar (which I have added, thanks Sal), but can be easily converted to a soft top with the 2 piece side and rear doors. I run mine as a soft top in the summer, and a hard top in the winter. The lack of a complete interior makes it easier to clean and use without guilt. The low millage on this truck is amazing given its age. I am sure you will get your asking price and make the new owner very happy. Good luck!
