1994 AA Yellow ST #651 216,000 miles $17,500 firm

1994 AA Yellow ST #651 216,000 miles $17,500 firm

I bought this from a fellow board member in December to satisfy my ST curiosity and have found that I prefer my SW. This is not a garage queen and would make a good starter for a restoration or conversion to a wheeler. It has some bubbling paint, rust spots on the crossmember, a chip in the windshield (with a poor repair,) and some flaking of the frame. The frame has been waxoyled previously but could use another blast. Odometer currently shows 215,604. The passenger door top needs some work to secure it to the bottom securely.

Iíve attempted to get it close to stock and added/replaced reinforced side steps, third brake light, original cubby (with lock & keys,) fuel tank cradle, loadspace mat, 95/97 style speaker boxes, two Tuffy storage/speaker boxes (I may keep these,) seat bottom foams and covers, rearview mirror, convex side mirror glass, refurbished Tickford top from Badger, new brake lines, rear taillight guards, new front kickplates, new floor mats, stainless door top studs and quick nuts, roll bar pads, and probably a few other things.

The drivetrain is solid. It has a Borla exhaust that sounds very nice and comes with alloys that show some wear. The tires are BFG MTs with plenty of tread. I removed the rear seat but will include it and the brackets I have. No rear seat belts. Alpine CD-9855 w/ipod interface, recent Maine safety inspection, stainless steel hardware installed on the exterior, VIN # SALDV2281RA939143, Carfax available from when I bought it, original ownerís manual.

I have more pictures that I can send but please donít bust my balls for pictures of every nook and cranny; I can take pictures that make this truck look brand new and itís far from that. I would prefer to sell it to someone who will take the time to get it up on the lift at Matt Browneís shop in Eliot, Maine and go over it with him.

I donít need to sell and the price is firm; no offers, no trades. The title is clear and in hand. This isnít listed anywhere else and wonít be. If I donít sell it here, Iíll ship it off to Matt for the winter and have him fix everything.

Hereís a list of work the previous owner claims to have done. And no, I didnít actually believe that the trust was rust- and leak-free.

In the past year I've had a TON of mechanical work done to it (all save transmission by Roverland 4x4 in Alexandria, VA), and the previous owner Waxoiled the undercarriage, so you're bidding on a rig that is rust free, starts right up, doesn't overheat -- and miracle of miracles -- is leak free. I have $12k in receipts (with warranty on various new/rebuilt parts) to back it up. This includes:
January 2009 -- rebuilt transmission installed, along with new clutch and fan.
April 2009 -- electrical system overhauled (previous owner had screwed it up installing light kit and it was screwing up the ECU) along with tune up (new plugs including new plugs and wires).
April 2009 -- new Borla stainless steel exhaust installed (existing one had leak, couldn't pass inspection).
June 2009 -- new brakes (rotors and pads) installed, front and rear. Stops like a dream now.
August 2009 -- engine completely resealed. Hence no more oil leaks.
August 2009 -- new radiator, water pump, and cooling fan installed. New belts put in for good measure. Hence no more overheating.
August 2009 -- replaced front and rear differential housings, old ones were cracked. Hence no current leaks of any kind.

Possible trade

Since there's been no serious interest, I thought I would throw one more thought out there before I start adding goodies and take it off the market. I would consider a trade for a very nice Series IIA 109 5 door. Coniston green would be ideal.

How about an RRC trade?

By the way, I got the PM on the door - I'm on the fence unless I find a complete D90 soon.

Not looking for an RRC even one as nice as yours Doug. No worries on the door; let me know if you decide to let it go.

Feel free to come by and check out the ST the next time you pass through. No pressure.

Sorry to see your Dweb posting deteriorate into such a pissing match. Did you try rangerovers.net?

Ha ha - DWeb is always one step away from a "my dick is so huge behind my keyboard" post.... it keeps my post at the top so it's fine with me. LOL.

I have had a couple offers on the RRC and after not driving it the last few days and getting in this evening I am not sure i care if it sells at all to be honest. I like that truck a lot.

Serious cash offers welcome

I have my eye on another vehicle (not a Rover!) that the owner has dropped the price on and am open to cash offers on this ST.

Please have everything in order (wife's approval, financing, garage space, whatever) before making a cash offer via PM. I have the title in hand and can move at lightning speed. As I mentioned in the original posting, I can remove some goodies and get that price down further.

And don't worry, I can't be insulted as I've been married for 22 years

lots o'pics

At the request of a fellow board member, I took a bunch of pics today and loaded them into this album on photobucket:

The frame is a bit sketchy and if he decides to pass, it's headed to eBay with full disclosure. If no sale, Matt gets a frame swap project this winter.
