Damn you for quoting me Joel!

Now that the deal on selling my BMW wagon went through I am raising the price of the Disco. She's a good truck.

$3500 as-is

Or $4500 with both 4:43 diffs rear has detroit installed - very low miles.
Someone should have acted fast!

The disco *may* be sold.... not 100% yet though.

Also decided to fly down and drive the RRC home myself. Just booked a ticket. Fun stuff.

If you need a place to stay in the DC area as you transit the 95 corridor...

You can grab some more parts while you're here too!

Thanks Ray! I get into Raleigh about 11am so I hope to be able to make it to at least Philly and I can stay with my Inlaws there - but ideally I'll make it to CT somewhere.

I guess it depends what kind of parts we are talking about!! Ha ha - what are you getting rid of?

I would have handed off the brakes, TPS, washer fluid tank, flanges, clock, etc...!
I hear you though, blast through DC and don't look back-it is better that way. Almost worth cutting over to 81 just to avoid it all together.

Ray - didn't recognize the name over on this board, duh!

If it's easier for you and/or you could meet me someplace "easy" off the highway I am happy to meet up. It would save some shipping costs for you, unless things are mailed already anyway?

Much thanks either way.

*Hopefully* I will not need anyones help, but it's awesome to know we all look out for one another.

Timing wise I'll be headed S to Charlottesville that afternoon; most of your stuff is on it's way to you already anyway (will get the driveshaft moving tomorrow, all else is already in motion). If you do need help somewhere along the route drop a line though.

Took a deposit on the Disco today. Local 17 year old - but I have to take the lift out, install the stock wheels and tires per his mothers request - and his actually too. Damn pussy kids these days!

Thanks Joel! Awesome truck and everything you said it was. Don't let the story below lead you to think I'm not very happy with the truck or the easy sale!

That said - I made it to Philly for the night.... But only after the BRAND NEW alternator Joel so very nicely installed this morning took a huge dump on me and lost all it's "factory smoke" - never good to let that out!! Ha ha. Luckily he had setme up with a spare belt, and an old alternator that works but has a nasty bearing growl. Got me the Philly so far. *fingers crossed*

Anyone have a spare known good alt sitting around in the Philly area or slightly north?

How about that, he was really worried about that noisy alternator. I did offer up the one from my Defender to get you home. Glad you are having a good trip. Did you get the radio to work? Do you have about another 12 hours to drive?

So far the radio works!

No AC still and the heat from the muffler not having a heat shield melted my duffle bag sitting on the rear seat floor! Heat shield now installed!! Ha ha.

Cat converter on pass side is rattling badly and i hope she holds till I get home.

Can't find an alt locally.

Something in the front end has loosened as she wanders a fair bit now - looking into that now.

No worries - she is just a typical Rover and needs LOVE! And I do love it.

I'll be heading out to my garage in Hoboken in a little bit if you need anything. Just PM me. I don't have a spare alt - just a dead one, though.

Steering box itself has play - and a slight leak. It will get me home. Tried loosening the lock nut on the adjuster but without a breaker bar/extension its not happening. No worries.

She's running well. Tightened a vey loose spark plug ( plug not wire ) that helped quiet her down. The cat is rattling a little more now but still okay. Alternator still sounds bad but not really worse I don't think.

I have made it to CT, Bridgeport-ish so she's still on her way! Have got a couple thumbs up from other Rovers - always nice when the RR Sports and LR3's respect the elders. Lol.

Don't forget the check engine light came on!!!

Things I have learned so far:

- $260 brand new alternators aren't worth a shit
- 16hr highway trips can wear out 19 year old catalytic converters, tcase bearings, steering boxes, and loosen spark plugs
- the tape player still works even if the FM tuner does not
- having a car shipped is worth the expense?

Made it home at 1am. Nice to be back.

Joel: Correct on all accounts!

It was a fun adventure though and thanks again for the help and the easy transaction/excellent sale. Although the above sounds bad and all, I couldn't be happier and the truck is exactly what I expected. It's a Rover.... Did I think I'd make it home with no issues? Hell no! Ha ha
