How much does a new hood painted in Alpine white costs? Interesting, the undercoating on my 110 has effectively prevented any surface rust from appearing, on this 110, it has not. I wonder if all 110's had that undercoat or did the PO spray it on before or perhaps it was meant to go to Canada.
A guy told me one time "don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat from around the corner"
I could be wrong but I think I remember this truck for sale maybe a year ago on LRX. I remember seeing the holes drilled in the hood and the 4.6 upgrade unless someone else drilled holes in the hood like this truck did. Anyone else remember that?
I will be the owner by this weekend. But my wife said I can't keep the 90 and 110. I'm not going to argue after she hasn't given me any grief on the other multiple cars, motorcycles, and boats. (well maybe a little, she can't understand the sailboat because she thinks its work compared to the powerboat, and doesn't get that I just can't part with the TR-8 even though it needs alot of work to get it back to even daily driver status).
I'll hold off on everything, since there seems to be grumbling, until I have the title in hand.
Over the weekend I went to see the truck and negotiate with the owner, Mike. My non professional opinion is that the truck, while not abused, has been well used off road. This was certainly no garage queen.
Many mods were made for offroad use such as OME raised suspension and removal of side steps in favor of rock sliders.
The roof rack tubing was bent up in the front and Mike, when questioned, did say he did hit something with it. All doors had moderate to sever corosion at the bottoms. All hinges will need replacement.
There was lots of cosmetic rust and some of the capping was corroded. I didn't go underneath to see about the chasis, but I didn't see any problems on the front or rear bumpers.
All in all I think it would need approx 15K in refurbishment (again a non professional opinion).
Because it is a 110, which I've always wanted, I made him an offer anyway. The bottom line is was he wouldn't take less than 45K, which I think is about 10K too high for the condition it is in. Remember it does have almost 80K miles and a swapped engine.
If anyone wants me to try to get it for them let me know. At this price I'm not interested in it for myself.
This is in Manhasset! I don't remember seeing it on ebay but that could be because I was only following 90s because I viewed the 110s as out of my budget range.
Mike said to me that before he would take less that 45K he would just keep it. I'm not the expert, but no way do I see this 110 as worth 45K, especially compared to what I paid for my 90 which is in much better shape with similar mileage.
