I have no dog in the fight, just reading Ebay data available to everyone.

Is this really a surprise? This galvanizes the the point that eBay is no longer an accurate barometer on car value/pricing. I don't see how anyone could buy a car on eBay and not have doubts that they may have overpaid because of run up bidders. I guess to the contrary that doesn't matter to folks with more money than they know what to do with.

I don't disagree with any of these comments, but I think his "For Sale" thread is the wrong place to make them.

What is wrong with the winner? Just curious about all this as I sell on ebay from time to time. 370 feedback and 100%. I would think that is a legit buyer.

I love how all of you trolls just shut down when it actually sold and I have a great buyer who already put down deposit. Don't quit your day jobs.

I think the point that was being made is 100% of the buyer's 370 transactions were with the Seller.

It's 100% of the 30 day bid total. That's 1 of 1.

That makes much more sense. Obviously I'm not an eBay'er.

I'm still confused here. Do folks here feel that $23k for a clean, well sorted lhd 90 with 200 tdi is overpriced? If you look what's on the market and what's available overseas, which I do daily, clean 200's in any style are assuredly hard to find, let alone lhd and in solid shape. This is a $30k truck all day long imo.

Nice work on the sale someone got a deal.

That is not a clean well sorted truck IMO. I think the seller did good at $23k. It all depends what the buyer wants though. They aren't that hard to find in this condition if you know where to look. Actually clean ones are tough.

Since the truck is "sold", I suppose it is safe to comment.

Maybe I have too high of standards, but my opinion is that this is not a "clean, well sorted" Defender. I can't help but feel that the "buyer" will be disappointed with what they are getting for $23,100.

The minor inaccuracies and "fluff" in the description get me. Those are not "roll bars". These are not becoming "harder and harder to come across". This is not "really in great shape". This is not a 29-year old vehicle as stated, it is 26 years old. It is not the "most current model year available" as that would be the 1992 Defenders. It has 126,792 km, not 125,000 (which is 78,784 miles, not 75,000). The alpine windows are covered with checker plate, which is a first for me. The seats are just weird, the bumpers are truly exotic, and there appears to be some rust on the floor pans. The cooling fan has wore a big hole in the fan shroud, which can't be good. It's missing the rear door card. There's no rear view mirror. The driver's door card has a tear in it. The exhaust comes on the side just behind the driver's door, which must smell wonderful.

Seats are odd. Ok. The rest of that stuff is easy to address assuming no rot, rust etc.

Besides that, yeah. She's a real beauty.

The body has holes and diamond plate all over it. Exhaust coming out the side. Crappy hood pin things. Body work is not cheap or easy or quick. It missing a bunch of interior stuff. It has the bulkhead removed (in not so clean fashion) but no support brace on the interior. I could go on. It looks like it was owned by a 17 year old kid who wanted to "mod"his truck but didn't have any money.

It might make a decent off-roader. But to make that a "nice" Defender is going to take a lot of time and money.

That being said I can't fault the seller for this. I think the photos of the truck are a good representation of what the buyer is getting. Hopefully expectation meets reality in the buyers mind.

Congrats to seller for getting top dollar. DrZ123, please tell us your buyer will be on the forum soon. That would be fun.

You posted you link on a forum where some guys have 2,000+ posts, some have been here for 10 years, and some have built multiple trucks from the ground up. Did you actually expect Adam, Red90, D90Overkill, and the Dro to get in a bidding war for this 90? Hell, Shayne would not have bought it! (Can we let him back now?)

This is no longer a for sale thread, so here goes.

110Fender - Like Adam and Bozman, in my opinion, this was not well sorted... this was a bucket that sold for 13K for more than it was worth. I am being generous because it is already in the US.

Adam's truck was a well sorted truck when he bought it. Big differences between it and this.

Go to LRO, ebay.co.uk, gumtree...etc. You will see 2-3.5K GBP trucks like this all day long. For fuck sake, there is a no shit Camel Trophy raft crew truck for less than 23. John Richards have a sweet 90mfor half the price. Withams has a nice ex-MOD for about 10.

Our own RiverMike had a 90 on here that sat for a bit, and even with known issues was twice the truck.

I have a 2.5NA 127 HCPU, a 300Tdi 110 Utility, and a 200Tdi 90 pickup (just sold). I paid less than 23K for all three truck combined. After import for the 127 and 110 I will be near it. So, yeah, 23K seems like a very high price.

I would love for you to show me a left hand drive, 200tdi D90 in the USA that is at this price point. I am sure you can show many British defenders, right hand drive, that are a mess for much less.

I think you guys on here need to get your heads out of your a**es and realize that most people don't have the time or care to import a car. Most people don't care if their truck isn't the original color, or any of this junk you are babbling on about.

A 200tdi D90 is worth $23k PLUS any day of the week. Obviously as this sale proves.

It is NOT worth what a few Defender snobs with way too much time on their hands state on this forum.
