I have seen this truck in person. The level of detail is amazing. Fit and finish are superb. The word crftsmanship springs to mind.

Also of note, I have never had communication issues as Michael replies to email day or night, evenings and weekends.

Rolls-Royce aspersions in a Rover. Why not?

Oh man! I have a huge flitch or two of teak, this is perfect! Thanks for the idea.

Michael, what are those tip up seats in the white truck (from the teak post on previous page)? Are those Exmoor Diamond XS (for which no online provider seems to have photos of?). I'd really like some nice tip-up seats like those but no online outlet I have found has photos of anything like this.

No the white truck had dark blue leather, trimmed by my local trimmer who does most of my retrims. They were originally Techno jump seats from a 2006 Td5 Defender.

Hi Mike

I'm wondering how you edge the teak floors you put in your defenders. I understand the glueing of 9mm Teak to Okume ply, but how do your edges look like a solid 18mm(?) thick piece of teak (as in attached photo). It does not look like you trim the edge with a veneer, it looks like that is a solid piece of teak around the edges.

And is your Okume 18 or 12mm? I'm thinking with 9mm of Teak that 12 would be sufficient.

I appreciate your clarification, this is an amazing piece of craftsmanship.

Thanks for your kind words.

Okume is 12 mm

Edges are not trimmed with veneer but cut in a 45 degrees angle, then we cut a strip of teak in the same angle and glue it on there. Takes a lot of time to get this right.

My best.

Just gorgeous! The teak work is outstanding! Goes without saying. Swan Nautique quality! Love that your reveals are real. I can't stand veneer. But your paint. Wow! Even your gloss has gloss! ;-) Bristol baby! Amazing work. All the best.

This is super helpful. I was planning to laminate 2 -3 pieces around the outer border to increase the thickness and, in theory, with some good planing, make it look like a solid piece. Kinda like this:
