1988 Santana 88 $10,000

Hello everyone, For sale relatively clean 1988 Santana. Diesel 2.5 NA (non Turbo) 5 speed cruises 70 No problem, interior is better than expected for a truck this age. Starts first time every time. No visible drips. Defender wheels, Left Hand Drive. Spanish truck so little in the way of rust. Was repainted at some point (not recently). Originally imported for a gentleman in Miami who opted for a BJ73 I had instead. Nothing wrong with the truck for the $$ it is has dings. Any questions or additional/specific pics please ask. In the past, had trouble with notifications/ viewing responses so if you prefer to call me directly the number is 813-655-84790. Truck is located in Tampa, FL.

I am interested in this truck as an inexpensive alternative to a LR D90. I would just be using it tool around town and hit the local off-road spots. I've done a little research on Santana and understand they are basically spanish defenders built under license in Spain. Other than that, can you please explain the technical differences?

Fixed in quote. This is the big thing, the Santanas are Spanish built leaf sprung series trucks for the most part. Not sure what they did as far as gearbox and power trains in them. I'll let someone with more technical info chime in to fill in the blanks.

Santana Motor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Up to the late 1980s the Santana models - supposed to be quickly and cheaply built versions of Land Rover's own product often ended up being different to Landrover's own vehicles . For instance Santana models featured anatomical seats, disc-brakes, turbo diesel engines, taper-leaf springs, parabolic springs"

The truck is virtually identical in terms of body. Box frame maybe the same as a series LR of the same year. 5 speed tranny

Mechanically this vehicle will have a 2.5NA, short bellhousing LT85, and an LT230 with 1.192 high range and part time 4x4

I'm not sure if the 88" models have the larger rear axle or not.

There are a lot of other idiosyncrasies that make them much different from a SIII or Defender.

But they are well built, solid vehicles.
