1986 Land Rover Defender 90 200 tdi turbo diesel

*** Please respond to the email or phone # in this ad-- I probably won't be checking this site often so please don't message me here.***

I have had this Land Rover in the USA for a few months now, been fixing it up to be a 'keeper' , but I have a couple of 110s coming over from the UK now and I have bills to pay in that department, so I have decided to sell this truck. (I am happy to provide more pictures just email me.)

1986, legally imported, has been upgraded to a Discovery 200tdi diesel engine - Runs great - Looked pretty shabby at first but I have been fixing it up. Hardtop in PERFECT condition. A lot of new parts in it already, and I am still fixing it up - If I do more to it the price will go up too. I am going to put it on ebay this weekend, I think it is worth about 15K right now as it sits. I also have a brand new soft top for this truck I have not put on yet.

Not very negotiable on price. I also really do not have time to show the truck unless you are serious about buying it, and have the ability and permission from The Boss to do so. There is still some Summer left out there. This would be a fun toy to roll around with the top off at the beach/ dunes/ etc.

**** I also sell Tdi engine kits for Range Rovers and Discoveries***** I have a list of things I also have lots of parts for Defenders and other Rovers I am selling here , as well as picture diaries of diesel conversions : http://laughsandlashings.blogspot.com/

These 200tdi / 300tdi engines have great performance and return about 25-35 MPG - REALLY - in every day driving conditions. This 90 will average about 30 city/ highway

Let me know if you have any questions. If you call, PLEASE DO NOT TEXT , and if you call and I can not answer please leave a message if you want a call back- 503 810 4713. Or email me at zak@zombiemotors.net.

Thanks for looking ! If you prefer, I have a couple of 110s coming in too - We can discuss that if you like.

I'm in Portland, I suppose I could go check it out for anyone who would like.

I've watched this guy post and post and post on Craig's List for a long time.

I have not seen any of his stuff in person, and have not met him, but.... where is he getting this stuff? What are his sources in UK? Why is it all sort of... running, but not in very good kit? Where does it all come from? Where is it all going? Why are several people in the local LR community telling me to beware of him?

I'm perfectly willing to check his stuff out if anyone is serious about buying, and I would come here and correct anything I said in my drive-by assessment, if things seem kosher.

That said, this looks like a cool truck to buy as a project.

I have another RRC that I might do a 300tdi swap in.
Has anyone gotten one of Zack's diesel kits?

Please read the links Raub & I posted. I have no personal experience with Mr. Mosieur nor his wife, but my link is to a thread featuring a lot of people who have.

I will let you make your mind up from reading that.

YMMV.

The thing I failed to mention is that I have had several email conversations with him. He was always quick to reply, but never followed through with detailed questions.

I would not recommend buying from this guy long distance. Cash, in person, test the item, and walk away with exactly what you went there for? Sure.

Here are his current postings:

That Tdi... isn't 300 still technically illegal to import? And that is about as clean an example as I've ever seen him post.

300 tdi was first introduced in 1993. That was 21yrs ago so the engine is legal to import, just not under the hood of a truck.

94 model year began summer of 93 just like every other manufacturer.

Out of curiosity having owned many of these engines and knowing sellers history of distance from veracity, is anyone here seeing 35 mpg in everyday driving with their tdi ?

I've heard mid to high 20s. 35 seems very unrealistic

Did you not see Zak's use of all capital letters in the word "-REALLY-"? That means that it -REALLY- gets 35 mpg for you unformed people! YUB hatin?
