Yes you can it costs $7500 for California Environmental Engineering company to inspect, make some modifications for smog and clear it. Then the DMV will issue plates.

We completely rebuilt the tub so I thought rather than paint over them lets show all the rivets for a clean custom look.

This is true, although only worth it for a diesel plant. FYI to any potential buyers in our liberal paradise.

Just glad to see someone finally got that unicorn Defender with paint code on the VIN plate. Pretty rare thing, that.

Interesting to see a new member post a legitimate for sale thread, then long term members troll him. Usually it's the new folk that troll...

I'm not trolling anyone. You said that it was already registered so I assumed that you had already completed this. I'm just trying to figure out the status of thr title.

I presume you refer to the comments regarding registration. Honestly, while a gorgeous and correct restoration, for an upwards of $120,000.00 etc price tag, you'd probably expect it to be fully titled and registered here in California which means it has a CARB sticker and is smogged, if registered for road use. You can't even sell a car here unless it has a smog cert done within 90 days, or buyer pays penalties. I asked, and he mentioned waiting to see if an out of state buyer would take it, which is then a non-issue. I have no problem with it. It is however important to a CA buyer because if they are none the wiser, they will walk right into a DMV to register it and likely get their title red-flagged because they can't produce the sticker and have to fork over the money to G+K for a CARB cert.

None of this is an issue for someone in another state.

I said it, you said it, it was a legitimate question.

As far as I'm concerned the seller is being clear. Lee, fantastic car, love the paint, love the detail, really cool it has that motor. GLWS.

As mentioned if the buyer is from Ca. I will tell the customer all the details and take care of it for them so they take delivery of a fully tilted and plated defender. At this moment they have the option of a 200Tdi install. The vehicle was registered here then went into the full restoration. So it would be a wast of time and money to do all that then it sells to someone from a different state.

Yea I get that but dosent the state hold the registration until it has a valid smog check or equivalent?

I'm not trying to heckle you, it just doesn't make sense to me.

Ok, first let me commend you in thr completeness and beautiful resto.

Second, you have to be more clear when you list these things. Right now this truck isnt legal in cali nor do you have registration for it. Paying registration and getting it in cali are two totally different things. Be upfront about this and you will have a much easier selling it. Especially at the price point

Edit: I don't want to come off as a dick. But registration of these things in cali is a huge challenge. It would be good if you to just say "registration in cali depending on sale and will be handled by the seller or a refund paid" ect
