1986-87 110 SW project for sale

Hi Guys,

I imported this truck in 2012 with the intention of fixing it up cosmetically and driving it. As usual the project took on a life of its own…..

All of the body panels where removed and painted white, over the years I have worked minimally on trying to reassemble the truck but feel at this point it needs to go to someone that will actually finish and drive it.

Original color is blue, it was orange when I got it and it is now white. Frame is solid, there are 2 small holes on the rear cross member but no structural issues bulkhead has 3 small rust holes in the drivers footwell again nothing major. I painted the frame with a light coat of rust preventative paint and it has been stored in my warehouse for the past 3 years.

None the mechanicals have been touched, I only removed all of the body panels. It ran and drove fine when I received it and have no reason to believe the same will not be true once assembled. I have a few new parts including both side frames and seats. The only part that will be needed is the rear floor section which is essentially a flat piece of aluminum sheet with and angle on one end. I have tons of pictures from the teardown if you would like to see anything specific.

My understanding is that this is a ex-MOD truck and has an upgraded engine and transmission from a 1997 truck, I have lots of documents from the seller.

The reason for sale is that reality has set in and the likelihood that I will ever put it back together is slim to none. I have also recently closed my warehouse, so I now have to pay to store it.

I think there is some upside in my asking price for a person that could put it back together and get it on the road. Overall it would make a nice driver.

Asking $12,000.00 with all associated import docs. for registration. Located in NJ 07009. Will assist with shipping nationwide. Looking for a quick easy sale cash offers will be considered.

Orange pics are how I got it and others are now.

Please PM email call or text kmcsharry at meridiantl.com or 646 596 1385

Here is some of the text from the original for sale ad posted here:

Bad points:-
one minor rust hole on rear X member, and 2 minor rust holes on the B posts near the lower rear door hinges. All door frames rusty. Body has some dents.

Good points:-
300tdi engine, R380 tranny, LT230 Transfer, 24 spline axles with rear disc braked Sailsbury axle, 123,000 miles on there componetnts, came from a donor 1997 truck. I also used a good take off bulkhead from a 1996 truck so no rust on bulkhead, This has been my daily driver/work truck for 2 years. It always starts even in the coldest weather (was -15 degrees here recently), Performs well in snow, diff lock is fine. Very basic interor, just has a lighter socket and a cubby box with drinks holders. No radio.

She happily will cruise at 75mph on the freeway and tows trailers with ease. I reguarly get in the region of 27mpg from her.

The seats are Exmoor Trim dark grey vinyl, the front seats have rear map pockets and head rests, the 3 second row seals are high back, and there is one bech seat in the rear (3 man type). The cubby box matches the seats.
The interior is painted black.

I will get more pics up and can also title the vehicle if the buyer wishes.....I will most likely start the process as it has been suggested to do so. I planned to title it and register it as a "historic" vehicle in NJ once it was assembled....

been getting some questions:

Here is a reply I sent:

I consider the paint job a “driver” paint job it was done fast and not meant to be all that aesthetically pleasing

Door bottoms are rusty, usable, but rusty, they should probably be replaced but like I said its a driver

Rear floor will need to be replaced, basically this kit :Land Rover Defender 110 Station Wagon Rear Body Floor Kit - YRM Metal Solutions or fabricate yourself

The frame is solid, some minor patching in footwells and a few small holes on rear cross member, I went at the rest of the frame hard with a screw driver and could not find any other soft spots

I have a bunch of new parts and all of the take off parts (new parts include side frames, hardware kit, door hinges, seats, some other misc. parts)

The drive train is from a much newer truck, per the ad: 300tdi engine, R380 tranny, LT230 Transfer, 24 spline axles with rear disc braked Sailsbury axle, 123,000 miles on there componetnts, came from a donor 1997 truck

I will begin the title process on Monday as I don’t want anyone to get stuck without it and I can address any issues in that regard as I am the original importer/owner in the US.

Again, I just want to make clear that this is being sold as a project to create a “driver” truck, if you want it to be a restored looking truck you are in for some work.

Ken: I really think you need to title it in NJ pre sale.

Yes I was quite interested until realizing it's not yet titled, living on the west coast with no title make me nervous. I'd need to like, put the money in escrow contingent upon being able to get it registered or something, and take a chance on delivery and assembly...

As I understand it the only person who can get the original title in the US after import is the original importer. An I correct in this? It's a nice project.

Depends on the state and even the specific DMV location on how knowledgeable they are of their state's processes in this niche area. In my case, bill of sale was all they wanted.

from selling a truck to someone in NJ, giving them a bill of sale and 7501 / 3520 / HS-7 they were unable to get it titled in NJ. so I had to go to NY and get a title for it first took forever 3-4 months.

I've met Kevin and have seen the 110 in person. His description is accurate: it is a project that could be assembled into a nice driver. Obviously it can't be driven, but it looked like all of the pieces are there, well stored, and a number of new parts .
He has a pile of documents and hopefully the title process will go smoothly.
I'm only passing on this as I see it, for me, as another project that will always get pushed down the order over my customer's Rovers.....!

You came all the way over here and didn't stop in to say hello?!

Haven't seen Kevin's truck in person but have spoken with him a few times and he's seemed like a straight shooter.

Clear NJ title in hand, received yesterday from NJ DMV....yes it took that long!!

Once again this a project 110 being sold as is, located in Cedar Grove NJ 07009. The body is removed and all associated parts for assembly are packed up and ready to go.

Please read the entire ad before you ask questions its all in there....I am looking for a CASH sale, come with a trailer, inspect it, buy it, and take it with you.

Thanks
