1985 NLX 130 Wagon RHD

Not very happy about this but business is business I guess. Now that NLX has officially moved to Guatemala it just doesn't make sense for us to have this truck just sitting in the US. We have imported two vehicles into Guatemala already and it was quite a painful process and I don't want to do it again with the 130. Also we now have access to later model defenders at prices that don't make me think twice about taking them through the jungle.

I love this truck, I have sunk a lot of time and money into it and hate to see it go. I'm not in a hurry as I'm in Guatemala but could fly back to show it for a serious buyer. It is currently located in AZ. Since I didn't plan on selling it I don't have any shots of the inside or under carriage..but it's a defender you guys get it. Some of you have also seen it in person (feel free to chime in) at the N Rally or Overland Expo. I have had all work done at MIT automotive in Evergreen CO, feel free to contact Rob as he is familiar with the truck & engine.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. No I don't have pics of the engine right now I will try and get some soon.

Photos

Price - $49k OBO with all the kit, would consider selling it without for less.

1985 130 Wagon
Niagra Grey - looks black but it's grey

Engine - Nissan FD35 4 cylinder diesel
This motor is used in small mid size trucks & buses in Asia & Australia. It has become popular in the UK as well especially in overland vehicles. It has a ton of power and works well for the 130. Has new heater hoses, oil lines, radiator hoses etc..it is paired with a Santana LT85 transmission.

Overall the truck is in excellent condition.

Body: Perfect, no dings or scratches, paint is like new. Has a small amount of bubbling just above the left vent on bulkhead, by small I mean 2" spot. No rust on door bottoms etc..

Frame is solid, had some normal surface rust but has been treated and waxoiled. New upper spring seats in the rear have been added. Rear crossmember perfect.

Just added a Salisbury rear-end with disc breaks

Interior - Great condition, seats are perfect, cab & second row have been rhino lined & dynamatted. The rear section is fully diamond plated and has 4 jump seats in perfect shape but brown (other seats are grey). Due to the longer space there is no headliner. Dash is in great condition and has a MUDD UK console - new Tuffy Box.

Extras - Terra Firma HD springs & Big Bore shocks, TF steering damper.
Rover Tyme bullbar
Superwinch 9.5 winch
First Four Rock Sliders
3 Hella 4000's 4 Hella Black Magic, Hella rear work lamp
Viking winch line & fairlead
Snorkel
First Four light bar
Front Runner Roof Rack, Load Bars & Ladder
Front Runner side mounted jerry holders
Wolf Wheels
BFG MTR 285/75 16's - 6
Rear tow set up

The Bad -
The install on the engine was done very well but it's not the nicest looking. The air filter canister brackets were home made and should be re-done.

The engine is quite large and needs some breathing room, on long drives it can start to get warm but if you prop the hood no problem, the solution would be venting the hood.

The T-Case leaks a little and for some reason it just started popping out of fourth gear randomly.

Speedo doesn't work but I will include new one

And...I'm in love. 130 wagon has always been my dream, this is a really nice looking rig - you should have no issue with this sale.

I hope to come back as you in my next life.

Hey Chris
Having seen the truck in person, what did you think of it?

Beautiful work. If I had 49k burning a hole in my pocket I would love it. Or of course a straight up trade for my '94 ST.
Added the picture from your website of it all prettied up. Good Luck!
Regards,
Jay

I like it a lot, really nice big rig for those needing lots of secure room on a trip or taking a bunch of people and the gear to match. Its something to see in person plus you dont come across too many 130s converted to full SW.

Did it at least have a good battery when you sold it?

.... THATS A JOKE! hope you get the sarcasm! I've been enjoying the truck you sold me more and more, and had some people make offers but decided to keep it for some time, I use it almost everyday!

Grats on the sale.

He did put in that 2.8 TGV, not a cheap kit at all. I can imagine that install costs at least 10-15K alone

How is it a four year restoration if he bought it in 2011?

I'm assuming the 2.8 TGV puts out 1.21 gigawatts.
